    infocus 4805, what gain screen?

Using an infocus 4805 in a very dark basement room with only one window (blocked with curtains) what gain screen would I want to use.
I can get this room pitch black, even in the middle of the day. Only light would be from lamps, if they are on.
going with a 72x96 dalite screen. what gain should I get?
    1.0, 1.2, 1.5., 2.5?

If you have light control, you don't need any more than a unity-gain screen (1.0), but 1.2 or 1.5 would be fine as well, and help if you watch movies with indirect room lights on.

In a pitch black room you can even go with a negative gain screen.
Mine is a perforated Grayhawk (with 0.85 gain) and it makes a small tradeoff in brightness for better contrast and black levels.

But it's actually not a visible loss at normal screen sizes because our eyes will compensate for lower light conditions (Iris opens up) and it will look pretty much the same. 8O

My first projector was a CRT unit with 140 lumens, and it looked fine on a 100" screen in a pitch black room. 8)

          Using the throw distance calculator:

You should figure the distance range, depending on your screen size and projector's zoom cpabilities, and put it right in the middle of that range. :T

              Hello,

I purchased the InFocus x1 a couple of years ago along with a portable Da-Lite white 6x8 screen. We use it a couple of times a month (whenever a movie worthy of the extra effort comes along, or when the kids invite their friends over, etc). It has also been a blast to host our...

              by R@p+0r
Hello everyone I recently bought an infocus 4805, and now I have to buy the screen. I think i would buy a dalite hcwm 92'' (1.1 gain). Now i have this question:

I was fortunate enough to have the use of a new 4805 & 76-inch Infocus screen for a couple of weeks. I'm planning to buy a projector and screen in mid-February.

(Incidentally, it will definitely be a step up, no matter what: It's replacing a Kloss Novabeam built around 1982. Works...

              by ti33er
Well well well, the UK has finally graced us Brits with the much talked about Infocus 4805!

I had a demo yesterday afternoon, and without a shadow of a doubt, handed over my plastic wallet within 30 minutes – we did a side-by-side comparison with the Infocus 5700, and I tell you what,...
