What are the advantages of a SVGA DLP over the XGA DLPs?

SVGA = 800x600
XGA = 1024x768
So XGA has more resolution, so I'd say the only advantage of SVGA is that it will typically be cheaper if all else is equal.

There are also the WVGA, WXGA and such which are the wide-versions (16:9 panel, not many DLP's with these though) of each, with WXGA being around 1200-1300 x 768 or around there.

The Piano ( for example ) is SVGA 800 x 600 . Now this little baby is supposed to have a great picture for an SVGA projector. XGA will have more pixels, so you would expect a higher resolution, but I have read that the Piano beat some of the higher priced XGAs in picture quality, but I guess you'd really have to see for yourself. I particularly like the idea of WXGA because of the 16:9 shape of the panels. No light spill when showing widescreen material. Trouble is, all the WXGA dlp projectors are $10 grand and up USD. An example is the Sharp Z900 widescreen dlp which is somewhere in the $12 to $13 grand range in Canada.
