Here's one for Jason and everybody--I just bought a new house. The great room (living room) has a built-in wall cabinet that would be perfect to put a flatscreen TV in, so it's not overtly obvious in the room. Can you guys help me pick out a good model? Here's what I'm going with:
- Would like one of the biggest displays I can fit. Limiting dimension is going to be width, which is 39 and 1/2 inches for the opening. (maximum outer dimension of the TV casing) Plenty of height. Not enough depth for a full CRT, but more than enough for any flatscreen.
- I don't have a specific budget in mind. For now, let's say that price is no object, and then if they come back unreasonably expensive, we might have to constrain it.
- Want 16:9 HDTV
- Want 1080p capability.
- Should be as "future-proof" as possible, with modern HDMI 1.3 technologies and such.
- Doesn't have to be bought right now. If something is about to be released in the next 6 months, I can wait.
- Doesn't need an onboard NTSC/ATSC tuner, but I wouldn't mind.
- Doesn't need speakers. (matter of fact, would prefer it without speakers, or with detachable speaker options)
- Room does have lots of windows for outside light, but I'm not hung up on needing something overly bright.
- Current sales in any big store or mail order would be a plus, but not mandatory. (We do have Best Buy, Sears, boutiques, military stores here in Alaska, and I think Circuit City, but I'm not sure)
