    Sony KDS-60A2000 vs KDS-R60XBR2

I just bought the KDS-60A2000 at CC and got about $700 off its MSRP but feeling a little buyer remorse since the KDS-R60XBR2 is coming out soon. Is the XBR just a prettier 60A2000 sharing the same internal components or will there be significant performance advantage with this set over the one I just purchased. I know the XBR ads PIP and I believe a Cable card slot on the side but from a hardware perspective is there any difference?

Dan it looks like the new version has a different screen (XBR®2-Series) than yours, but the resolution, contrast ratio, 1080p native, etc all appear to be the same. Maybe someone with more knowledge of the Sonys will hop in here, but initially I'd say hang on to the deal you got on the KDS-60A2000.

I ran into the same situation myself, they are very identical except the XBR2 has extra inputs (HDMI), cable card slot, and a newer version of sony's video circuitry, Version 2.5 vs 1. I prefer the look of the 2000 vs those ugly speakers on the side. But since I found out the 70" XBR2 speakers come off, I am going to sell my 2000 and get the 70" XBR2.

        xbr stands for xtra bright
not very creative name but noticably lacking in the regular sxrd (this years non-xbr offering).
what you will notice is hot spots where as last years (xbr sxrd), and presumably the new model xbr2, has much more uniform brightness similar to a flat panel
dont know what other features are tacked on....

                My experience with the Sony...

I purchased the 60A2000 thinking it was a lower cost XBR2. My experience; when the room was dark and I was in front, it looked OK. With a bit of ambient light or sitting at an angle, it looked aweful.

Since I was within the 30 days of purchase, I returned it hoping to get the XBR2, but fell in love with a plasma instead. It was a bit more $$, but worth it IMO.

BTW- the Sony is a "full 1080P" and the plasma I ended up with is merely a 720 set.

                  Xbr2?
                  by june
                  Hello All,

We have the 60' XBR2, does it around 45-60 seconds to show a picture? We are using the HDMI input from the Comcast cable box. When using Comcast's remote (all on), theirs a flashing green. After the picture appears, the greeen light stops flashing. Maybe it needs time to...

                  "Slot-loaded" sub designs?
                  by SE-Raider
I've seen several "slot loaded" subs lately, or at least designs described as slot loaded. An example is the 8-inch offering from av123. Many of these designs are down firing, and a partition is placed a few inches away from the face of the sub, loading the front wave; an opening around the...

                  Anyone here own one yet?

I'm trading my XBR-250 for the 400 soon and would like to hear opinions on the new Wega.

How is it in 1080i mode? Does it automatically double everything to 960i -or can you turn that off (not that I would, but it would be neat to compare)?...

HP Visualize workstation AGP Pro video card slot?
                  by whoaru99
I picked up (cheap) a HP Visualize workstation from my place of employment. This computer has dual (Slot 1) 1GHz PIII processors and 1GB of memory so it's a bit dated, but works OK in general.

It has a HUGE AGP graphics card in it, but it's an AGP Pro slot/card, and it does not seem to...
