    Pioneer Pro 1130 vs. Panasonic TH-50PX 600U

    Let's start a debate!

    PIONEER:

With the price drop that has happened on the Pro 1130 has really made me think about going with it...this was the TV I wanted but was more than I wanted to spend

    Pluses:
External Box all of my A/V is in a cabinet
Best colors and blacks at the time
    Removeable speakers
    Plus a lot more
    2 year warranty
Know the owner of the store - but not local so that could be a negative too

    Negative
$900 more - Landed at my house for $3600
    1+ year old technology

    vs.

    PANNY 600U

I have paid for this and they are going to deliver it when I call them (dry wall and paint next week) but can cancel the order w/o a restocking fee (love that policy)

My question to you guys is...last year's best TV under $6000 vs. this year's best TV for under $4000

    Pluses:
    $900 less
    Newer model
    Is there a technology difference?
Buy locally...but getting it home will stink

    Minuses:
    Less picture quality?
    All wires to the TV

This is very wordy...sorry about that. What's your feedback worth the extra $900??? ;x(

I'd be tempted to lean towards the Pioneer too if the financial playing filed is near level

As a 1130 owner, I can assure you that you will NOT be disappointed. Even though it might technically be last year's technology, it is still well ahead of anything Panasonic has released. The black-levels and colors are just amazing. Let us know what you decide!

              Still on the fence...

Now I have been thrown this curve ball by my wife. She suggested I go cheaper for this TV and when 1080P is more affordable move this TV to the bedroom and upgrade the Home Theater for 1080P. I love my wife!

Mixing in that I am more into the audio side of home theater I am thinking saving a few bucks and going with the Panny or save another grand and going with the Vizio that has been written up quite well in many publications

Then I can get the speakers I really want...

Ah the tough decisions in life!

If that's the case get a 720p Samsung DLP for now and spend away on audio gear!

^ah but the one thing the wife did stipulate is she wants it to hang on the wall and a front projector won't work due to my height and low ceilings...

Well you could hang a DLP on a wall but I guess a plasma/LCD would be easier....

As a matter of fact, you are correct! It also has a 2 year parts and labor warranty... a nice bonus on a TV in this price range.
