    Please help!

Hello all. I would appreciate any input that anyone can provide regarding an issue I've been experiencing. I have an LV-S3 Canon projector. I cleaned the colored filters after noticing some inconsistencies in the quality of my picture. I think after I moved some dust worked it's way inside. Regardless, upon cleaning them and reassembling them I noticed a new problem. I now have what appears to be a blue shadow above all light (mostly white) images. Below these light colored images there is a yellow shadow. For instance if the image being projected at the top of the screen is of a light colored sky, the entire top of the screen will has a blue line (and a yellow below it). I have some experience working through such issues and feel like I can solve this problem but I'm running out of ideas. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Pictures are posted on my flickr account. Thanks so much!

Your projector's panels are out of convergence/alignment. You must have knocked something out of position in your cleaning.

Is there an easy way to fix this? I'm assuming the answer is no.

I don't know of any 3-chip bulb projector with adjustable convergence. It will have to go back to the manuf. for service

That would be my guess as well.

However, you did manage to un-adjust them while cleaning, and I assume you were taking reasonable care at the time. So you might pop it back open and look and see if you'd be able to do it yourself.

But I would error on the side of caution and follow dragan's advice if it isn't pretty obvious how to rectify the situation. Don't want to hose it up worse.

Thanks everyone for your thoughts. As the projectors on, I can move the panels and the color of the entire image changes a bit, but the size of the shadow itself remains. This leads me to believe that the problem is with the projection of the image itself. Did I put the panels in the wrong slot? There are little stickers with blue, red, and green dots which I assumed refer to the panel color. Perhaps I put the lenses in backwards? I flipped them around and it didn't seem to affect the image one way or the other (concave vs. convex). The only thing I can think would be the mirrors which as noted above, I'm hesitant to mess with. The most frusterating part is, like you said, I was careful and if I messed it up it should be easily fixed?

              Just my quick thoughts?

Try a different cable and different inputs just to eliminate the problem (my apologies if you tried this already).

Is there some type of service menu access available?

I would also contact Canon tech support (1.800.828.4040) to see if they have any viable solutions.

              Peace and blessings,

              Azeke

On second look, it appears only your blue panel is off, concentrate on that one.

I haven't tried the cable fix yet. I should, I just assumed that I caused the problem. I'll check that tonight. As far as the service menu goes, I was unable to locate one. I've been back and forth with Canon via email and they've refused on multiple occasions to trouble shoot. I was told
"The information you are requesting is not available. The only repair facilities for this product is the factory service center. Repair technicians are not available for phone call nor do we walk customers threw repairs over e-mail nor the phone. Bear in mind that, due to liability issues, we are unable to provide you instructions on how to conduct repairs." :M How frusterating...
Brandon, is the blue panel also responsible for the yellow line? I decided this weekend that I've pulled out far too much hair and have no more ideas to solve this problem. I have no idea how to converge the lenses and would love to give it a try but I can't find any information on it. I guess I'll just send it out if replacing the cable doesn't work. Thanks again everyone for the the suggestions.

So, I'm being a pest now, apologies for that. What's the most likely story? The panel is damaged (I can't see anything visably wrong with it), the lense next to the blue panel is damaged (once again, nothing visibly wrong), I put them in wrong, or the path the light is traveling (through the mirrors) to the panel is out of allignment? Last post, promise.

It looks like the blue panel is out of alignment, moved up so that its contribution to the image is shifted up by the amount of the blue and yellow bands.

The yellow band is where the image is missing its blue component.

Has anybody use/encountered/have any insights regarding the use of Trupan for cabinet construction? A friend of mine told me about it. He builds furniture, and was raving about it over MDF. He's not terribly knowledgeable in the audio realm, so in the beginning I wrote it off due to its lower mass,...

                          Hi everybody,

I'm new to this board, so this may have been asked already. What do you recommend using to clean the painted surface of the 803D tweeter housing? I used the microfibre cloth that came with the speakers and it introduced hairline scratches. The cloth was dry, no cleaning...
