    silverscreen

I'm looking at building s DIY silverscreen for my sharp XG-E3000U(best projector for 160 dollars) with a 100:1 contrast. I;m looking at improving that with a silverscreen. How much better will the contrast be with a silvercreen or a regular white screen(free screen by the way).
also, if this is posted in the wrong forum, feel free to move it.

Well, this is the right forum. However, being the curmudgeon I am, I feel somewhat obligated to point out that a screen won't improve the actual working contrast ratio of your projector... unless you have problems with light control and reflected light, and using a retroreflective screen with gain will allow transmitting a higher proportion of the projectors light to the listening position, while minimizing the contribution from room reflections.

Now, some of the gray type screens give the impression of better black level, but that must be contrasted with the fact that the "whites" will be less bright with a gray type screen.

You might have a better chance of improving the actual contrast ratio by using a photographic enhancing filter (red spectrum highlighted, and re-calibrating the projector (as was popular with Sony 10HTs), for flat color spectrum, as one of the problems with inexpensive (UHP) bulb projectors is that the bulbs have a decided cast towards the green and blue end of the spectrum.

I'll try the enhancing filter on the projector.
