    92'' diagonal screen?

Would a 92" widescreen be a proper size for sitting about 9.5' feet away in my deticated theater room? I am using a Benq 8700+ and picture quality at that size and distance isnt an issue. The only issue may be viewing fatigue. What are you opinions on this?

    Thanks All :T

A reasonable guide line many folks follow is a minimum viewing distance of 2-2-1/2 times screen height. You should be fine based on your inputs. Generally, I wouldn't expect viewing fatigue to be an issue unless you have too much scanning accross the screen... something like front row in an IMAX, for example. For normal 4:3 and 169 screens, usually SDE or pixellation of the available displays limits how close you'll want to be. I usually sit about 2.5 screen heights away, and that's a large angle of view- but I'm running a CRT. At that same distance, most digital's have visible pixel structure. (I'm blessed/cursed with 20/15 corrected vision).

92" viewed from 9.5 feet away should look great with DVDs and HD material.
Of course VHS and DSS will look a bit soft blown up big, but you will get used to it. With DVDs looking wonderful, and HDTV looking simply awesome. :T

Rule of thumb I've heard that a viewing distance of 1.5 to 2 times the screen width is a good range. For a 92" diagonal screen that's about 10.5 to 14'.

I've experimented a little and found 1.4 - 1.7 times screen width a good range for me, with 1.4x just starting to bring on fatigue.

        I have a 92" screen with a Z2 projector and generally sit at 11'.
