The "Ultimate Matrix Collection" Uber Set

It's finally been announced! The "Ultimate Matrix Collection" will be released on Dec 7. (a day that lives in infamy) It's the Uber-set that I've been waiting for, knowing that it would come sooner or later. 10 discs with new footage and a "new transfer" of the original Matrix. All 5.1 Dolby Digital, so it looks like we're not getting DTS on this. I own the original Matrix and the Animatrix, and had to buy the Matrix Reloaded when it came out to see again before Revolutions, but I've been holding off buying Revolutions knowing that this set would show up sooner or later. I'm still waiting for the LOTR Uber set that's sure to come out sooner or later--I haven't bought any of those either.

Even this set is available in two varieties. The 10 disc set sells for $50-65, and the "Limited Edition Collector's Set" has everything the Ultimate Collection has plus a "collector's display case with Neo bust" and "80 page book" for $80-100. Interesting... why couldn't they make the case come with Carrie Ann Moss' busts? Or better yet, Monica Belluci's?

    DVD Features:
    Disc 1: The Matrix
    New digital transfer
A written introduction by the Wachowski Brothers
2 new commentaries by philosophers and critics
    ROM feature

    Music-only audio track

    Disc 3: The Matrix Reloaded
    New digital transfer
A written introduction by the Wachowski Brothers
2 new commentaries by philosophers and critics
    ROM feature

Disc 4: The Matrix Reloaded Revisited
Go to the second chapter's furthest reaches
    21 behind-the-scenes and making-of featurettes
23 extra scenes shot for Enter the Matrix video game

    Disc 5: The Matrix Revolutions
A written introduction by the Wachowski Brothers
2 new commentaries by philosophers and critics
    ROM feature

Disc 6: The Matrix Revolutions Revisited
The cataclysmic final confrontation is chronicled
    29 behind-the-scenes and making-of featurettes

    21 featurettes

    Disc 10: The Zion Archive
Production assets developed for The Matrix Universe

    Drawings

Holy crap, people. Am I the only one that finds this interesting? Cool... I'll just wait a month after the set comes out, and then buy it at a bargain-basement low price!

As much as I would like to double-dip, I don't know about this one....seems almost too little too late, will the market even care?

I know they were going to offer a single revamped version of the matrix and they pulled it in favour of this. I hope the Matrix SE resurfaces. If they hope to milk the cash cow, they'd have a better chance with the original than this big box set. Cost alone will probably keep many die-hards awy.

We will have to see what happens with the price. Traditionally around these parts, even when it doesn't sell well the box set jumps up to MSRP and stays there for years!
Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.

Unless there is a noticable improvement in PQ/SQ over the current DVDs, I'll be passing on this one. I think I'm suffering from Overmatrixexposureitus. . . . cough, cough.

I'm getting pretty tight on dvd rack space in my HT so I am careful now of what I buy. I already have the three original releases and am quite happy with that. Fact is I haven't watched any of them a second time as yet.

The first 3 releases were fine if not reference quality. The first release is the only one that is suspect and unless they release it seperately, I won't be buying it.

I think at that point I'd have to consider the set.

I better not say it too loud around the wife, but she was a real highlight of the last two movies for me. Yuuummmmm....

Now if I can just get her and Lindsay Lohan to star in a movie together...

I agree, ROFLMAO. Why is it that the French pissant a$$holes of the world always get the hot chicks?

Because chicks dig the sexy French language.

"I've sampled every language, and French is the best... especially to curse with."

                          *Cusses in French and grins*
