I don't know how much of this ( scientifically speaking ) is possible, but it sure as hell scared the heck out of me. Re: sound. Oh yeah :T

George, seeing what happened to the Northern US in this movie, Nova Scotia probably didn't fare too well. . . .

I'll tell you,Tex, when wifey and I saw that bit about Nova Scotia being swamped , the movie started to get just a little to real.

Burke, you just had to throw that in, didn't you

got the dvd last week and finally watched it. I ended up liking it more than I thought I would. Alls I heard was terrible reviews so I wasnt expecting anything decent.

The picture quality is excellent, as is the sound. The LFE is very low and clean, it could have been obnoxious but it was very potent and not overused.

Now to go watch Van Helsing :T

I saw it in the theaters and also thought the story was lame. Although I did enjoy the movie based soley on the fun factor. :B

As for your other comments, the story is lame. As it is, this movie runs 123 minutes and focuses on basically 2-3 groups of people. The focus of those 2-3 groups of people is supposed to get you interested in them and to care about their characters, so they can kill some of them off :B , and make you glad if some of them survive.

A movie as this one, really shouldn't try to go International with it's story-line. Wouldn't work. Hell, the story-line they stuck with.....barely worked

Honestly, are there any non-american made movies, which focus their story-line on the level of International impact and actually go deep into those International impact story-lines? Off the top of my head, I'm thinking, it doesn't happen very often in many films; regardless of who or where (what country) a film is made.

Oh, almost forgot to mention. This movie is rated PG-13. On Tower.com they give an explanation for the PG-13 rating.

It's............" intense situations of peril " :??:rf

                          ............................ :laughat:

For some odd reason, I find this hilarious. :B

Yeah, they didn't do much of a job in getting you to care about the characters. But I have to admit, I was always pulling for that homeless guy and his dog.

I liked and cared about the characters. No, you didn't get a deep, meaningful, soul-to-soul relationship out of it, and yes the whole hospitalized child portion was contrived, but it's a disaster movie for crying out loud! :

I was hoping a few more of those characters would get squished, splattered, or frozen stiff. But you can't have everything :B :W

Characters not getting frozen stiff? What are you talking about? How about when the girl wrapped herself around Dennis Quaid's kid to give him her body heat?

Yes, a "touching" moment, indeed. At that point, the kid may have been stiff, but not from being frozen. :>)

Other than the political crap in this film, not a great film. About the level of the Core which I found to be infinitely forgettable and a horrible terd.

Well, I finally watched mine on big screen in the theater with full surround sound.

I'd say it was worth watching. Good special effects, etc. In retrospect, I think it was probably better as a rental than a purchase. Oh well.
