    A Walk to Remember

Popular bad-ass boy meets sweet unpopular christain girl. Boy falls in love with girl, girl has secret....schmaltzy ending ensues.

Might be okay for the 13 and under group but it has waaaaaay too much of a TV movie of the week feel to it. The Christain underpinnings go from sincere to "hit you in the face with a ball-peen hammer" subtley

The ending is for lack of a better word brutal. I called the ending in the first 20 mins of the movie, it's that obvious.

There are some redeeming aspects of this movie....it's not your typical teen gross-out flick (it's quite the opposite). It has a somewhat genuine message that tries to drive home the message of "faith, hope, love" and "don't be so caught up in what other people think of you or your beliefs"....positive stuff for youth that you don't typically see in todays movie.

Unfortunately it lacks a certain maturity to it that is further hampered by Mandy Moore's lack of acting ability. The movie is too sugar coated, too water down to have true impact to anyone over the age of 12. Shane West puts in a decent performance where his transformation is believable, he stands out, more so because everyone else fails to. The rest of the cast seems to be "phoning in" their performances.

It had potential to reach a wider demographic, but the lack of grit and an ill-acheived denouement puts this movie into the long list of forgettable movies.

I rather be hit in the face with a ball-peen hammer, than sit through this torture. :B

Hehe, if someone told me the burner on the stove is really hot, I'm not about to touch it to see just how hot it is. :B

Good luck Steve. Enjoy the show. :later:

Here are a few more to add to your NetFlix list : :>)

Gigli (feel free to substitute any other Bennifer collaboration) :>)
Battlefield Earth (if you can make it through more than five minutes of this, you also need to rent "Two of a Kind", another John Revoltya "masterpiece") :>)
Ishtar (A classic "must miss" from the past) :>)
Showgirls (ask for the "Executive Edition" so at least you'll have some interesting supplemental material to look at) :>)
Van Helsing (Available on DVD October 19, 2004 -- something to look forward to -- bwahahaha)

              "Enjoy" :>)

By the way, Gordon, thanks for the "heads up". I get enough syrupy, phony, religiosity just listening to campaign speeches -- and bad acting too. :>) (That's a non-partisan "hit".) "A Walk to Remember" sure sounds like "A Film to Forget".

Is it what she was smoking when she agreed to be in this one? :>)

Well can't say I disagree. I stand by what I said....syrupy is pretty accurate (though *I think* it's intentions were genuine, they just couldn't pull it off).

So we watched House of 9 last night, based on a recommendation I thought came from here. Couldn't find any thread on it so thought I would post my own.

Basic plot, similar to Saw II. Crazy guy puts 9 people inside a house with no escape. Last one left wins. While Saw II has a deranged...

I don't know the name of this film right off. But let's start with the fact it is based on a true story.

So, spoiler alert if anybody wants to watch a movie like this, not knowing the name, it involved hiking, a young couple, and on/off course day and night time hiking and camping. Stop...

Jersey Boys (BD) - I spun this on Blu Ray the other day and was happy I chose to watch it in BD format. The sound track on this movie is dynamic, exceptional and engaging. I'm always impressed with how good BD discs sound compared to DVD. This film by Clint Eastwood is about the rise...

                          Hello all,
Just wanted to know if there is a good website that helps people find out the title of an old movie without knowing the title.

Just in case your curious, I'm searching for an older B sci-fi movie. All I remember about this movie is the ending, it takes place on a space...
