    SCARFACE

    Scarface: Anniversay Edition

It amazes me how many people have not seen this movie. Scarface is film cornerstone of the times and troubles during 80's. Starring Al Pacino and Michel Phiffer, written by Oliver Stone and directed by Brian De Palma.

Plot: This is a story about the rise and fall of Tony Montana, a Cuban refugee. Ruthless and ambitious, he climbs to the top of the cocaine trafficing ring.

Video & Audio: The video quality is very good. I was surprised that there is a DTS audio track. And it sounded incredible. Dialogues come clear through the center channel. This movie does have a lot of shooting and the surrounds are active.

Extras – plenty but haven’t checked.

Conclusion: :45: This is mainly cause some of the actors would lose their accent occasionally.

Oh, I love this film. I only have the first dvd release and am giving thought to upgrading to the new anniversary edition. PQ of the first dvd relase ain't all that good. Anyone know how this new edition compares to the first release ? I'd hate to buy the new one if the PQ is the same.

      George,

It's a much better looking image. I'd rate the original DVD as one of the worst 5 PQ's I've seen on DVD. The new edition is an anamorphic image with much better fidelity and detail. It's not a new re-master - at least, I hope it isn't - but it's tons better than the old one.

I held off buying the movie when it first was release cause of poor PQ. Like David said the PQ is leaps and bounds ahead of the first release. I also wouldn't be the best judge for PQ cause I only have a 27" television,

Thanks, guys. Sounds as though I had better pick up the new edition. Kinda like the idea of a DTS audio track as well.

Do you own any imported DVD's?

I am curious because I'm considering purchasing one but don't know anything about imports.

I want a copy of Scarface. Out of print, as many of you probably already know.

I've searched everywhere and have found a few that I believe...

As many of you know, I've been waiting for the "Uber" set of Lord of the Rings before I buy any of the movies. I think this is the best we're going to get:

I wanted to comment on my impressions of T2, technically. Seems to be a real crowd pleaser, tight palipitating bass, excellent color saturation, a real technical knockout. Now, I haven't caaaaruuuuzed the menu structure fully yet, but seems like a real fun disc(s). I have no idea what is on the second...
