Still as funny as ever

Pulled a classic 80s comedy off the shelf last night—Planes, Trains, and Automobiles. Was a winner with the whole family (kids, parents, and grandparents).

Worth revisiting and, if you’ve never seen it—what are you waiting for?

My kids have been clamouring to see that. They love the original and are quite curious about the new one. Now that I’ve finished my PhD comprehensive exams, family movie nights can return to their former frequency.

Well, I am old enough to be a grandfather, though not to a PhD student. Of the thirty professors in our history department, I’m older than all but five of them. My goal is to graduate no later than my daughter from her undergraduate degree that she’s about to start. I think I have better than even odds in my favour. (If not, I may end up exemplifying a Jeff Foxworthy punchline 8O ).

He’s got a joke that (roughly) goes like this: “If you’re walking your kid to school...cause you’re in the same grade...you might be a redneck.”

I will add it to my Wilder collection. Was not aware of it but seems like the kind of movie I would enjoy.
