    Anatomy of a Murder

Another classic (excellent Criterion release), with Jimmy Stewart, Lee Remick, Ben Gazzara and George C. Scott--directed by Otto Preminger. Among the best courtroom dramas I've ever seen and considered among the best ever made. Realistic enough depiction of legal proceedings of its day (1959) that it was screened in more than one law school as an example of a number of key methods and tactics used in criminal trials. In its day, it was considered unusually blunt in its treatment of "sensitive" issues and can be viewed as a deliberate challenge to the Hays Code. A long movie (160 or so minutes), it captures a persuasive "slice of life" of society and the legal system as it was in 1959 America. A fascinating story (inspired by a real case), I highly recommend it.

nothing like the classics to ground you....

....& to benchmark current 'attempts' at movie making....:P

not to be taken out of context, as there are many, mostly independent films out that are actually excellent.
just that the mainstream industry has evolved into producing for fiscal generating demographic based algorithms instead of quality film making, imho.....

Michael J Fox Guested on Boston Legal

Michael played a good role, and did it justice. Apparently he's managing his Parkinsons fairly well so far. That's good news. He's been on the last 2-3 episodes, but not sure if his part will carry over to the next show.

He played a wealthy terminally ill guy with various run ins with...
