Great thread! I myself like to occasionally do the Star Wars marathon, LOTR, and the Matrix. (which I see we don't have listed yet) A Bond marathon is fun too, but IMHO must be broken up over a week or more, just based on the number of movies.

      I don't have times.

Oh nice additions Paul! I'll add everything I get to the first post. Matrix is a good idea... I don't think I've ever even seen them all (always end up falling asleep in the middle of the second one).

Matrix would definitely be good...you could break up the Bond marathon by actor, or maybe by the decade? Some other suggestions below, if I can dig up some time later I'll look up the times.

          Harry Potter
          Quentin Tarantino movies
          Resident Evil maybe?

For some reason I feel Platoon, Apocalypse Now, and Full Metal Jacket should be one by themselves...though maybe that would be too depressing to get through.

What about the Evil Dead/Army of Darkness series?

Or how about a Pixar marathon?

              Spaghetti Westerns?

              Batman (new and old series)?

              Cohen brother Marathon?

              Hitchcock?

I would suggest the criteria be limited to a movie series of 3 or more with the same character.

Evil Dead/Army of Darkness, isn't it just the 2 movies?

Spaghetti Westerns? I can only think of the couple with Clint Eastwood, who's titles elude me at the moment. Fist Full of Dollars and a Few Dollars More.

Batman, that would count, the Keaton/Kilmer/Clooney and then the Bale versions.

Cohen brother? Not sure about them, any consistent characters? But why not.

Hitchcock, more of a director than character throughout, but would be a nice marathon as well.

                Then a Kevin Smith
Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, Dogma, Clerks II, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back. The Jay and Silent Bob character showing up in all those movies.

                Jurrasic Park!

Xmen, Xmen 2, Xmen Last stand. Would Wolverine count as a prequel and what do we do about Xmen First Class?

                SpiderMan, Spiderman2, Spiderman3.

Out of ideas at the moment, but I think this is a fun thread. I'll be referring to this in the future.

Ooh lots more good ones... I added Harry Potter and The Godfather, as well as Paul's first post to the main post.

Xmen, hmm that's going to be tough. First Class definitely fits in as a prequel IMHO, there's even scenes from Xmen in First Class. I'm also guessing First Class 2 will follow in and maybe lead into the first Xmen. I guess if we were to do Xmen it would order like this:
                  First Class
                  Wolverine
                  Xmen
                  Xmen 2
                  Xmen 3

                  Spiderman, duh!

Batman, hmm yeah I'd definitely split out the Bale versions (I never really cared for any of the others).

Pixar would be fun, though that's a ton of movies now

Some of the others, I haven't seen.

Spaghetti westerns: A Fistful of Dollars, For a Few Dollars More and The Good, the Bad and the Ugly--a trilogy and thus a marathon is born.

If TV series are involved (mini-series), then I would add Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy and John Adams to the list (just two that I've recently viewed, I'm sure I can name others if I think on it).

You guys have them pretty well covered. Other than Jaws , Friday the 13th , Nightmare on Elm street etc. Of course those are a bit all over the place.

I've done the LOTR Ext. Editions at least twice in same day.
Star wars All 6 in "episode" order once on dvd will have to redo now that I have them on blu-ray.

The Harry Potters I did in a week one every night until DH Pt. 2 came out. That would be the EPIC to do in a single day! 19 hours and 40 minutes without bathroom breaks and food, once you factor that in your looking at 20+ hours probably closer to 22 hours.
