Just watched a classic film with Audrey Hepburn, Cary Grant, and Walter Matthau. Man, what the heck did I miss? I didn't like it--semi-typical pretentious acting from Hepburn, cheesy fight scenes, humor that just tried too hard, actors faking bad accents or charismatic attitudes. I was sure I was going to rate it :2: out of :5:, and then went to Netflix, where it's rated :4:.
Do people just give automatic extra kudos to classic films, because they've got to be better for some reason? Geez... there's many classic films that I like, but I like good films regardless of the era, and dislike substandard ones regardless of the era. this one just didn't measure up for me. Yes, there was some story and plot that was decent, but... no.
What the heck am I missing?
