    Speed Racer

There is a thread on this film over at At The Movies but I wanted to post about the Blu-ray version here as this is where it belongs.

Well the picture is an amazing treat for the eyes. Sadly, though, for me, the film just wasn't my cup of tea. For those of you who like this type of movie, by all means go for the Blu-ray version if you have a player. The images will blow your mind. And although there were complaints in the other thread about the audio, it sounded pretty good in plain vanilla DD 5.1. There isn't a lot of LFE in the film, strangely enough, but when it happens it made my pant legs flap and that's usually a good sign.

Guessing you rented it. I had a feeling you may not like the film. It's going to be one of those like it or hate it sort of things I think.

I vaguely recall the last time something made my pant legs flap and I enjoyed it as well .

Do you think my 6yr old son would like this movie? Any violence or anything?

Some mild violence no blood or anything. Some car accidents so?? My 2 year old son loves it but he is obsessed with cars.

Well I didn't hate it or anything, I just found the whole thing rather silly. It's probably my age...

Just got this delivered--looking forward to seeing it again in hi-def glory. Probably tonight--if not, definitely tomorrow.

Watched this last night. OUTSTANDING PQ and the sound was great. This will be getting heavy rotation as it is a kid movie that "papa" also wants to watch.

Just watched this from Netflix. Ridiculous movie--at times I snorted in contempt, but it had lots of good stuff, and I thought the ending was VERY well done. Really brought it to a fantastic climax.

PQ was amazing. SQ wasn't bad, but BD only had regular Dolby Digital! All in all, I give this :35: out of :5:. I'd say it's a definite rental, and I might consider buying during a sale.

Oh, and I never really watched the cartoons, except occasionally catching a bit as I flipped through channels. But I thought it was funny, the comparison to the cartoons that I do remember, especially the monkey and little brother.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Question before I cut sub legs
                  by jacket_fan
I am building the cabinets for 15 inch drivers. These are downfiring and will sit on carpet. They are sealed.

Before I cut the legs, is there a definitive minimum distance above carpet the driver should be?

I had previously had 3 inch legs made out of left over MDF and...

In answer to my own question, I would say between $10,000 and $40,000 dollars. It used to be more but digital has drastically lowered the cost while at the same time making it much easier to produce a professional look.

However, this isn’t a story about reasonable. This is the true...

Now we all have learned that at the beginning of each day you are given your pages of the days work. For me that means I can figure out how I am going to utilize my crew and plan my day. The more I can get ahead of the company with pre-lighting the more time I can save production. And in film time is...

                  by alpina
                  hi all,

any ideas where i can source legs for my rack?

they will need to be approx. 1mt in height and ideally there will be 3 in total (2 up front and 1 center rear). i hope to mount 5-6 shelves off it, ideally adjustable

                  thanks in advance
