Saw a snip of this at a friends house (he had DVR'ed it) and it looked interesting, found it at Barnes and Noble on line and decided to buy. The deal is that it's Styx (current version) playing with The Contemporary Youth Orchestra of Cleveland. Now I'm not a big Styx fan, they were popular when I was in High School and any further real interest was killed by classic rock radio, but I do enjoy their music here and there.
What attracted me was the kids. I was such a pleasure to see these talented young people having such a good time. All smiles and energy having a great evening playing along with a pretty cool rock and roll band. Nothing better than seeing kids having a good time doing something they enjoy. You see so many happy smiling faces as they show the Orchestra, they also spot light a few with wonderful results. Again it's something special to see these kids having such a good time.
The picture (16:9) is ok. The bummer part is the audio mix. Unfortunately much of the orchestra sound is inaudible, lost to the Styx's instumentation. This it truely a shame. There are a few songs where the orchestra shines, there should have been much more. Who ever did the mix did these kids a dis-service. That said, I rate this as a must see. :T
