    Turistas...Ugh !

Every once in awhile I rent one of these contemporary horror flicks and usually find myself disappointed. Last one I saw that I really felt was worthy of the name "horror flick " was The Ring. Turistas is not. I don't like gore so wasn't bothered that Turistas only really had one such scene, but all in all the film itself was a mess. Basically, a group of diverse backpackers get stranded in the Brazilian outback and find themselves in the hands of a mad doctor who recycles body parts from foreigners for his more unfortunate countrymen. The camera work was terrible. A lot of night scenes during action where you couldn't tell what the heck was going one. As for the actors: who the hell were they anyway ? I didn't recognize anyone. Oh, well, it was only a rental.

Sorry, no stars for this turd.

    George,

I agree 100%. I just can't stop renting these "horror flicks." Every now and again I'll come across a great one for sound. Did youe see, I mean hear "DARKNESS FALLS?" If you haven't, please watch this after 10pm when it's dark!!!!!!

George, I'm with you on this one........ I also rented Pursuit of Happiness and Children of Men so it wasn't a total loss. I love the campy horror flicks like Slither, Feast, Cabin Fever..... But this, well SUCKED! Even when the movie sucks sometimes there is a "wow" factor thrown in somewhere to at least make you feel like you didn't totally waste your time, but the only wow for me is how did I sit through this. I rented Black X-Mas so hopefully this one is better then that was.........

Just saw this one last nite. Definately sucked. Not the worst horror flick ever, but was not very entertaining, and actually not really scary either.

So true. Blood and gore is not my idea of a horror film. The idea is to be scared out of your wits, and often the scariest thing is want you can't see.

Try "The Grudge" 1 & 2, scary with a little gore. But watch at night.........

And thanks Mikegunnz, I was going to rent Black Christmas tonight.

I liked the both. And thought that two was even scarier than the 1st film.

In time for Halloween -- Scary Movie 3

Scary Movie 3 (SM3) is solidly in the bad-taste-is funny, sight-gags-galore spoof-a-rama tradition of Airplane! (the same director did both). Unlike Scary Movie 2, which was a tired re-hash of the "original" Scary Movie, (which I enjoyed), SM3 treads new ground, parodying not just horror flicks...

While working on the computer yesterday, I had the TV on in the background and the show was on the all-time scariest movies.

So, I was thinking, I like to be frightened. But, what to get. Ah, the good folk at HTG might have some interesting ideas.

                        What are your favorite...
