    Paradise Now

    Rented It.

Another independent film, this one about the lives of two aspiring suicide-bombers in the West Bank. It focuses on their background and their inner-battle of whats' right and whats' wrong.

There is no actual violence shown for those that would turn away from a film like this because of that. It is subtitled.

I thought it was very-well made.

I can't wait till this one hits the shelves at our Hollywood Rental store; I've been dying to see it. Glad to see a good review from someone here, as I trust your reviews more than any others. I saw a short clip on a PBS International Issues show, Foreign Exchange with Fareed Zakaria, and it looked very intense and thought provoking.

What struck me most about the film was how neutral and non-judgmental it was.
No black vs. white, no hero vs. villain, as characters face off and interact amongst each other, but rather an internal war being waged within the mind and soul each individual character as they attempt to come to terms with consequences of their actions and exactly how their actions will effect themselves, their friends, family and loved ones, the innocent, and their people as they gradually loose all hope for a homeland. The fight for freedom and self-determination is as old as humanity it self, the question being contemplated is how to justify the means by which the battle is fought.

To me, a very powerful film, but probably not one many would find enjoyable. Dealing with such a volatile and dark side of human nature can be disturbing and incomprehensible.

Definitely one of the best-made foreign films to came along in long time, IMHO.
