The Ghost & Mr. Chicken is one of my favorite childhood-movie memories. Vaya con Dios, Mr. Knotts.

Sad day in Mayberry for sure. Barney Fife, the greatest TV deputy ever. He will be missed. RIP Ole Barn'.

He had a powerful face for comedy. He had a unique way to make us laugh. He was good in several parts. But he was Barney Fife. Nobody else could pull off Barn like he could of'.

My favorite was the Incredible Mr. Limpet.

          Best regards,

Darren McGavin is also dead. Both he and Knotts were in their eighties. McGavin is well known for his role as the father in A Christmas Story. He also played the reporter in the original tv series The Night Stalker.

Boy, they're going fast, aren't they. Very sad loss.

Yes, a real loss. I remember him also from my childhood in some Disney movies. Wasn't "Apple Dumpling Gang" one of them?

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

I too was sad when I learned this, I'm only 16 but I've seen some of his stuff, including one where he was an amusement ride operator and got drafted or something to be a real astronaut, it was a riot (At least to a little kid).

                          Me too ....

For those of us that are REALLY old. Don Knotts, Louie Nye and Tom Postum all got their show business start doing sketches on the original "Steve Allen Show" late night TV series....for the last broadcast every member of the studio audience was given a raincoat and a cream pie......I'll leave the outcome to your imagination..... :B
