    Two-Timers

I thought this would be an interesting topic, so here goes:

I happened on Platoon, which was on cable last night, and started to watch it. As I was watching, I noticed at least three actors in the movie who have worked with Charlie Sheen in another movie. First and probably most obvious is Tom Berenger, whom Sheen shot in the end and who ended up being his Cleveland Indians' teammate in Major League two years later. I thought that was pretty funny. Then, you have David Keith, Sheen's buddy who a few years later became his worst nightmare as a sanitation inspector in Men At Work. And there's John C. McGinley, who worked with Sheen the following year in Wall Street.

So, have you guys come across occurrences like these in the movies you've watched?

Also, I started thinking about the actors in my DVD collection. For us HT enthusiasts, we all probably have several "Ah-nuld" flicks in our collection. That's pretty obvious. But what about a guy like Bill Paxton? I was fairly surprised that he happens to be in many movies I own: Aliens, True Lies, U-571, Twister, etc. I can probably name a few more if I think really hard, but it's still early. Then, I discover I have at least two movies with Giovanni Ribisi: Saving Private Ryan and Lost In Translation.

So, I thought it'd be fun if you all can think about your movie collections and come up with some names that you wouldn't have expected to be in so many of your DVDs.

Just off the top, how about Michael Caine. I am surprised at how many movies he shows up in my collection, ranging anywhwere from early stuff like Get Carter to the later Jaws Revenge , Miss Congeniality, the Get Carter re-make with Stallone, that last Austin Powers movie, The Quiet American... heck I could name maybe a dozen more if i really though about it.

      Steve Buscemi

Steve Buscemi is my favorite supporting actor, hands down. You see him in almost every type of movie to. Just looking at my collection I'll note a few...

      Big Fish
      Monsters Inc (Voice)
      Ghost World
      Big Daddy
      Armageddon
      The Big Lebowski
      Fargo
      Desperado
      Pulp Fiction
      Resivoir Dogs

He's also not a wimpy prissy actor off-screen either. After high-school he was a fireman in New Yorks Little Italy. After the towers fell, he came back for a week working 12hr shifts going through the rubble. Lots of bar-fights too. He's been stabbed 3 or 4 times, including one to the throat! :E
I had initially taken him, for a bookworm-like introvert.

My favorite role of his was in Desperado.

Wow, that's cool, Nick. Buscemi is a very good actor. I didn't take him for a tough guy, either.

The ESSENTIAL Collection - Movie Favorites By Genre
            by David Meek
            Hi all.

I want to create a list of the ESSENTIAL movies or series that we should have in the ultimate collection. By collection, I'm not limiting this to DVD's - any movie or series available whether it be just released, only on late-night TV, laserdisc, VHS, DVD, you name it - is up...

You know, sometimes, you just have a hunch, you pick up a DVD, regardless of price, and say, yeah, this looks interesting. Now, I didn't judge it on cinimatography, I didn't judge it on acting. I just judged it on good laughs, quirky plot turns, and in the end feeling pretty good having watched it....

            Desperado is Super(bit)
            by JonMarsh
Watching "Desperado" brings back all kinds of memories for me, it being one of the early DVD releases, a pretty stunning one in it's time, and one I used over and over again in my early HTPC experiements, first with a Chromatic Research Mpact board, then with my Matrox 400 setup.

            Stallone's Get Carter
            by George Bellefontaine
            FORGET CARTER.
Naw, that isn't fair. This was a valiant effort at a remake of the original Get Carter starring Michael Caine. Nice try but it just didn't make it. Stallone is not as nasty as Caine in the original. You actually find yourself pulling for Carter in this version, whereas you weren't...

What Fantasy Books Would You Like To See Made Into A Movie?
            by David Meek
            Hi all,

In an ever widening attempt to find out what you like, and because Paul provided a nice segue in the Sci-Fi thread, what FANTASY books (or series) would you like to see made into REALLY GOOD movies or series of movies? Mine are:
