    STEPFORD WIVES -- the remake

... and if you liked Ira Levin's novel and liked the original film, that pretty much followed the novel, then you will look at the 2004 version as perhaps National Lampoon's Stepford Wives. I didn't mind the comedic approach, and was ready to accept it right up until they took a different, and may I add SILLY approach to the conclusion. That pretty much ruined it for me, despite the fact that I admire all the actors involved. I guess if you have never read the book ( Levin wrote it at a time in history when some of the male population felt threatened by the women's lib movement) and never saw the original film, then you could watch SW 2004 and say, " Gee, that was different and cute." As for me, well I do like to own originals and remakes just out of curosity, but I honestly can't recommend this as a purchase. Try the rental first.

Now as for PQ ? Well it is absolutely stunning. Lots of female eye candy, too, and colors that pop. Soundtrack not too bad either.

:1: For the film :4: for the dvd video transfer and soundtrack

Hmm. Didn't bother me as much (although I agree with your assessment). I go into remakes with such a bad attitude these days that if there is anything at all redeeming about the movie, I am pleased.

So here's my endorsement: It was better than the new Planet of the Apes.

...the 1975 Peckinpah film ( THE Killer Elite ) that starred James Caan and Robert Duval. This one is based on the 1991 novel entitled The Feather Men and is supposedly a true story. True or not, it is an entertaining action flick starring Jason Statham and Robert Dinero as mercenaries and Clive Owen...
