    S.W.A.T

I caught this at the drive in on friday night and really enjoyed it. In a nut shell the plot centers around a SWAT crew who have samual l jackson as their leader that's an old pro at the job and was brought back to the job from teaching to build a new SWAT team. Neither he nor some of the team he assembles are the "flavor of the month" with the chief which adds to the tension. The remainder of the movie centers around an international bad buy that is in custody. During his transfer to a holding facility he shouts to the media that he'll pay 100 million dollars to anyone that breaks him out...that sets up a number of attempted break outs that the SWAT crew must thrawt. There's a few twists to the tail as it develops but non are unpredictable or impossible which helps make the movie a fairly solid action driven summer blockbuster. About the only thing my wife and I didn't like was the very last few scenes but really that's a very minor flaw in what was otherwise a pretty entertaining movie:T

The second feature that night was Charlies Angels 2...the less said about that the better

Doesn't sound like a bad flick, but not one that would get me off my ass and out to the local garbage plex, like Open Range will. I'll wait for the dvd on SWAT. Thanks for the mini review.

We caught S.W.A.T. this weekend also. In a nutshell: it was like a big beach party - fun, loud, things looked good, had tons of stuff going on AND it actually had a pretty good storyline. I went in with really low expectations and this movie exceeded them easily. Good production values, nice clean video and an audio track that ought to be awesome on DVD! It's well worth a matinee ticket.

Oh, there are two moments that you really had to push in suspending your disbelief - WARNING, spoilers: shooting a flying helicopter from a thousand yards out, (how does the bullet hit right below the rotors without the ballistic arc carrying it THROUGH the blades?) and landing a Learjet on a traffic bridge in LA. Get past those and you'll enjoy this film.

      I give S.W.A.T. :25: or :3: out of :5:. I'm being wishy-washy. :

I'll probably buy the dvd. I do like that Irish lad, Colin Farrel.
