    Chewy's back!

Classic "Star Wars" character Chewbacca, C-3PO and R2-D2 are being brought back for "Star Wars Episode III," the BBC reports.

Director George Lucas has hired actors Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), Anthony Daniel (C-3PO) and Kenny Baker (R2-D2) to reprise their respective roles as livelier versions of their characters for the prequel, currently in pre-production.

While R2-D2 and C-3PO have been featured in the previous five "Star Wars" films, Mayhew's character did not appear outside the original trilogy.

"I think his reappearance in this film is a fitting way to tie the whole saga together," Mayhew told the BBC.

"Episode III," which will be the final part of the "Star Wars" prequels, begins filming on June 3 in Australia.

The full title of the film has not yet been revealed. It is scheduled for a May 25, 2005 release

And, hopefully, at that time, they'll start releasing the original Star Wars trilogy on DVD. Man, they're going to make a ton of money instantly when they do.

Yah, that's cool and all...but is it just me or does the Star Wars universe seem to get smaller and smaller. Lucas seems to be going out of his way to say "Look! see! I told ya this was all tied together"

Maybe I'm rare...but I like episode 1 and 2 and star wars and empire and return just the way they are. They don't have to twist and turn and convolute the story to get it to all fit together. They stand on their own (which I think is important) and are points in time in the saga. Each forwards the story and doesn't seem to continue from where the last left. But at the same time...it's not critical to rehash characters from the first 3 (err...last 3...errrr...you know what I mean )

As an aside...I say polish the effects however you want....throw in lost footage even. I like the special editions... but don't go adding story that was never there in the first place....I understand that's what Lucas wants to do once this is said and done and I'm not sooooo crazy about that prospect.

Lucas is tarnishing his past and may be remembered as a one trick pony....and he definately isn't. He is a master story teller (Indy, Young Indy, Willow (not a great movie but a good story), American Graffiti)...I just hope that all this StarWars revisionism doesn't cloud that fact.
Sell crazy someplace else, we're all stocked up here.
