    Blade II - a review

I have to admit, I was literally LOL when the climatic battle took place. It was a WWF-like performance all the way. Blade got in a few good lines, and so did Whistler. The actress playing Nyssa (Leonor Varela) was awful, I was amazed by her lack of acting skills in many scenes. Ron Perlman did what he could with what he was given (which wasn't much).

The fight scenes varies from really entertaining to downright embarrassing (CGI-enhanced did very little enhancing and proved more distracting). The story seemed to truly miss some meat on the bones, and it weakened the movie. The comedic bit of humor were funny, and some of other CGI effects were grisly and gruesome (kudos on that front).

If you're an action junkie, you'll get your money's worth. Otherwise, you most likely be disappointed in the superficial screenplay and plot.

I give it 2.5 stars or a grade of C+/B-.

Man, I've been waiting for this one too! And was hoping it would have a good story. I guess I'll just settle for the comic action.

Thanks for the heads up Pat.

Too bad- the original was fairly entertaining. But your review is consistent with the impression I had from the brief theatrical previews I saw.

I felt that this film could go either the "extreme cheese" (boo) or "entertaining and different" (yea). Sounds like it hit closer to cheese. Damn, I had hopes for this one too. Guess it'll get bumped down the priority list.

        Thanks for the review Patrick.

Uh, did we see the same movie? Too sum up my thoughts, I liked the movie. I thought it was one kickass gorefightfest.

Much like Aliens, was differnt than Alien, so is Blade II, different than Blade. Now, I don't think the Blade series is on the same level as Alien and Aliens, I just think that the original movie developed Snipe's character and we found out a lot of info, with some really good fight senes. Blade II is more about action than anything else.

Was I expecting a plot? No just whatever will move from one fight scene to the next.

The brief plot goes something like this. There's a new badass in town that has the vampire race scared shittless. They have to resort to enlisting Blade's help to hunt and destroy these new creatures. And Blade's all game for this cause once this thing finishes off the vampires, it's coming after the human race. So Blade gets together with the Vamps highly trained special team that was ment to go after Blade. So we've got a bit of tension going there. I do have to single out Ron Perlman as doing a great job with his Vamp character. Well it turns out these creatures are harder to kill, and sunlight is the only effective weapon against them. So we get a lot of pretty cool fight scenes and the usual, it's just around that corner, it's above you, it's behind you, jump out and scare you. There's some pretty graphic gore scenes. Oh and they do bring Whistler, Kris Kristopherson, back. That's taken care of in the first 15 minutes.

I do agree that some of the CGI was pretty obvious. And, like it or not, the Matrix style of fights and bullet time shots, are here to stay.

Plot holes, yeah there were a few, thats what happens when you start to think in this movie. Just let go and let the movie totaly manipulate you and you'll be fine.

So this action junkie definitely got his fix for the weekend.

I'll have to wait until it comes to dvd to give my opinion. I must admit, I did like the original.

This is coming out a bit late, so it won't be as detailed as other, earlier reviews.

Let's be clear here. It's a movie made from a comic book character, okay? It's supposed to be over-the-top, and over-the-top it is in several

Disclaimer!!. I like folk music and that whole 1960's folk craze that happened at that time. This Coen Bros movie is about that and poor Davis's attempts to make it in that music Biz. He's somewhat down on himself which makes his journey difficult. He's living out of a suitcase with his...
