The Book Of Life
We first watched this movie a couple months ago when it first came out, we've since watched it another probably 10 times and I have to say so far it's not getting old. This is a great family movie with beautiful artwork, catchy and fun music, witty and whimsical themes, along with both funny and sad moments in an up-beat movie that we all seem to love very much. Maybe it's not for everyone? But I think a lot of people with and without kids may enjoy this one just as much as we do. In my opinion it's probably our favorite family movie of the year although there is one I haven't seen yet that I think may come close.

Minion Movie does look quite good for sure. There is an anime movie I really want to see but can't think of the name currently..... It's by the same people that did The Book of Kells which I also enjoyed and the kids somewhat enjoyed.Comment

Yes that one! I keep meaning to buy it and everytime I look for it locally they only have the DVD version. I'm going to have to break down and order it off Amazon likely. For some reason I always seem to forget the name of that film though haha.Comment

Jersey Boys (BD) - I spun this on Blu Ray the other day and was happy I chose to watch it in BD format. The sound track on this movie is dynamic, exceptional and engaging. This may be a good discussion. The topic is popular books that have been made into movies. By and large, my personal opinion is that movie renditions of good books fall far short for a few reasons. First, I think due to the media of print, books allow for a much more thorough immersion of the reader... -
In another post about Lord Of The Rings I mentioned how the images in the film matched the mental pictures I had formed many years earlier while reading the trilogy, and The Hobbit for the first time. This added greatly to my enjoyment of the movie as it gave me a feeling of immersion in this story... -
Unfortunately I cant give a review as I was about to watch and low and behold its in Spanish (and hence subtitled). I was very disappointed because subtitles totally take me out of the movie experience. After all, I want to WATCH the movie, not read it (isnt that what books are for). The last movie... -
Had family movie night last night. Was expecting visual treat (no disappointment with my still newish projector). Audio was also excellent. Story was more sophisticated and better developed than I expected. Bill Murray is a stand out, as is Christopher Walken. :T:T:T
