Y'know, I was planning to post about this today. It's a wonderful movie based on an equally wonderful book. It's a real contender for some oscar nominations and perhaps a winner. A must see.

The screenplay, cinematography, and the editing in this movie are stellar! I was unable to look away from the film for its 2 hr. length. This movie is not only one of the best of 2008 but one of my all-time favourites. Slumdog is fantastical. Slumdog is movie magic. And the final scene while the credits are rolling should not be missed. A nice final flourish to the movie.

                I"ve gotta disagree.
It's OK with lots of interesting Indian culture, adorable kids, good guys/bad guys, and suspense.
However, it degenerates into a typical predictable Hollywood formula. The ending left me very disappointed.

I viewed this film for the first time a few days ago. I felt it important to see simply because many film critics have used it a a point of reference. It has also been listed as a must see. Well I have to admit, I was in no hurry to see this film. I live in an age of surround sound....

I will start shortening things up here. And just get to the salient points. But first, let me say this. Up to this point Heavens Gate was the biggest disaster in the history of filmmaking, at least from the perspective of the investors. At $40 million dollars it bankrupted UA studios.
