Watched the entire show last night. Thought Jon Stewart did a fairly good job as host, but I like his humor anyway. I was glad to see Clooney get an Oscar, and felt that Witherspoon was a shoe-in for best actress and Hoffman for best actor. Seems like Brokeback Mountain and Crash got split down the middle. Brokeback gets best director for Ang Lee and Crash gets best picture. Glad it did. That is one powerful film. Also seems the show stayed within its 3 1/2 hour time slot. Now I have to get my hands on The Constant Gardener to see why Rachel Weisz got best supporting actress.- Bottom

Would like to mention that an acquaintance of mine won an Oscar!
Martin McDonagh won an Oscar for his "Live Action Short Film: "Six Shooter""!!!
I'm a member a of a short film club here in Dublin as a good friend of mine who writes, directs and produces his own short movies, got me involved a good while back. His movies do well on the UK and Ireland scene and he has picked up a few award of his own. It's great fun and you would be amazed at how some of the best and most involving films I've ever seen are under 15 minutes in lenght!
I've met Martin a few times on various nights out/screenings and I'm delighted for him!Vincent.

I agree Stewart (who I'm a fan of anyways) did a good job :T I was however getting pretty tired about the preachy parts of going to the movie theatres  Obviously they haven't seen the crappy state of the majority of theatres lately  Stewart's piracy comments were funny though
All in all pretty good with a few WTF moments but noting major.Jason- Bottom

Jason, you are correct about the preachy stuff. This really was a 3 and a half hour promo for movies on the big screen in theaters only. Well, what else can they do. Box office receipts haven't been all that great in 2005.- Bottom

I missed most of the Awards last night but was thrilled Crash won for best Picture...fact is I hate to say it but I was thrilled something other than Brokeback won, but I liked Crash anyway.
I wanted to say that part of the reason Box Office money is down is because overall movie quality is down IMO. There is some good stuff, please don't get me wrong, but I know a lot of people are getting sick of the recycled material being released by Hollywood. Just my 2 cents.- Bottom

Unless they're going to make conistently quality material and somehow ensure that the giant cineplex's present them properly and affordably with quality setups.. they have no right to whine at people for enjoying them in the comfort of their own homes on arguably comparable and sadly a lot of times superior setups. They're still lining their pockets anyways :roll:Jason- Bottom

Stewart was awful I thought(I usually hate him anyway). The rest of the show was ok. Nothing else was on.- Bottom

Yeah Shane, gotta agree with you on Stewart. A lot of people like him, but his stuff just doesn't work for me. I tried to watch but couldn't get through him and the sales-pitches.
I am glad that George Clooney got an Oscar. I've enjoyed much of his work and thought he'd been overlooked on occasion. Now, to find a copy of Syriana. . . ..
