Gilligan, he was 70, and now he's gone. It seems only yesterday that the Skipper, that preceded him in death was blasting him for his antics on the Island. Thanks for many a laugh Bob Denver, you'll be missed. Anybody remember Dobie Gillis? Bob Denver was such a cool beatnick dude as that character Maynard G Krebs.

Never much cared for "Gilligan's Island", but I watched "Dobie Gillis" via, ahem, "reruns" (kind of like in "Back to the Future"). :>) Maynard G Krebs was definitely the highlight of that show. Bob Denver was "one of a kind" talent and will be missed.

All I Really have of knowledge of Maynard G. Krebs was remembering his cool beatnik mood and hip talk. I guess it stuck with me, even if I was in like the 2nd grade or so. Maybe it was reruns, I can't recall for sure. I just remember him sitting like that thinking statue, and remember his goatee, and cool lingo.

Yeah he was something else on Dobie Gillis. I really wasn't a huge Gilligan's Island fan after the first season, but it certainly was a success in its time. Hell, I still see reruns all over the place. Denver once said it never bothered him being more known as Gilligan than Bob Denver. He was a very private person and all the attention on Gilligan suited him just fine.
Last time I saw him at some function on tv, he didn't look that well, in fact he looked older than his 69 years at the time.Comment

Actually, critics hated Gilligan's Island as stupid if not moronic comedy at the time it was produced. That's why they were able to kill it after 3 years on air. But then syndication started, and it was as if they started a generation blender. A somehow timeless classic, that with only 3 years of shows, managed to build fans from every generation from that point on. Collectively, they became the glue that kept it on the air basically forever. Denver accepted that by the mid-70s, it wasn't going off the air.
Interesting fact I did not know. The girl that always chased dobie gillis character'd as Zelda Gilroy, went on to become a California State Senator. (Sheila James Juehl) I always thought she was an interesting character from that show. Again, I remember reruns, not first runs since I was 3 when Dobie Gillis first aired. lol.Doug

Maynard G. Krebs was one of my favorite characters back in the day. AndI don't mean reruns. The "G" stood for "Walter". He was named after his aunt.

I've been so happy with my Bob dipoles since I built them 8 years ago that I seldom post here anymore, although I browse.

With an average of 200 concert dates per year, Dylan pretty much hits all parts of the country each year. I try to catch him every time he plays in the Los Angeles area and even go to multiple concerts when possible. Every concert is a surprise and every tour always has an exceptional band.
