Anyone saw Sin City?

Hi all, I'm kinda surprised that no one made a thread for this. I saw it on opening day and really enjoyed this. I think this is my favorite movie that came out this year. Very entertaining from start to finish. Highly recommended in my book.

It's doing and reviewing really well. Have hope to see it sometime this weekend. I'm really pumped about this movie. It seems to have real grit :T

I'll agree with audioqueso said about this movie. It reminded me seeing the original Matrix for the first time, it makes you want to see it again and don't the movie to end while I'm watching it. The violence is just like typical Tarantino style of directing, if you can handle most of the Tarantino's movies, you won't consider this too violent.

Excellent movie saw this last week. Extremely well made and directed and the look of the movie is very unique. The violence is quite heavy at times but from what I've been told thats what the comic is like. The acting is excellent as well definatly worth a look.

Too bad my wife is due anytime now (she's preggers lol)... so I can't really go watch it alone or with a friend. She wouldn't want to see that kind of movie with me anyways.

I took in a Thursday evening showing with my 20 year old step-son. Too "out there" for my wife.

We loved it. Very true to the original strips and the violence was masked by the black and white type cinemetography. I was completely enthralled for two hours. A great big screen experience.

I do not take in the real cinema too often with almost all of my viewing at my HT. The only downside was 10 minutes of commercials and 15 minutes of gore and spook previews for about 8 movies which I would never want to see. It is pretty interesting how previews are now geared toward the type of film being viewed. It is obvious that summer is around the corner.

Just saw it.

I thought it was reminiscent of Kill Bill after seeing the previews, and my thoughts were confirmed when the opening credits pegged Tarantino as a "Guest Director".

The style was fantastic. In my favorite film of all time (Schindler's List), spielberg uses color in the black & white during a couple scenes to (what I believe) tear down "statistics" and make the viewer focus on the fact that every number was an individual. This film uses a similar tactic to make you focus on sex and violence. Along with a true-to-it's-roots comic book style and physics, I quite enjoyed the feel.

While the characters were great, and the gore was darkly comical. The film is essentially broken into three stories. You see half the first, story two, story three, and then the last half of the first. I thought story three was a bit drawn out (my only knock on the movie) while one and two were excellent. As a whole the movie worked well.

The style and majority of characters were fantastic. They pulled no punches, and really delivered a city of sin.

I'll be buying it for sure! I think Quentin had a bigger hand in this than we are led to believe...and given that I love/own all his films, I can't wait to get this one home.

Saw it on the weekend and it left me sort of in-between. Not sure where I stand. It didn't grab me by the nether regions but it didn't yank 'em off either ...see the movie and you'll know what I mean

Violence is over-the-top in places and over-the-top-suggested in others.

Every scene looks like a in-motion comic book panel. Very ballsy direction and styling (I hope this wins an award or 2 or at least gets a nod for art direction)....from the subtle pausing and over-over-exaggeration of cars as they fly a small hill to the up close focus of characters and shadowing very reminiscent of a comic panel.

Mickey Rourke stands out in this one and by far has the most engaging story.

This one is YMMV and don't say you weren't warned. If you understand what you're getting into at the beginning you'll do fine. 2 people actually walked out midway in this one and the theater wasn't very full so I'm not sure if the first week run will be enough for the other stories (which I hear there's a few to choose from). DVD sales alone may keep this alive. Time will tell. See it once if not at a matinee, then see it on DVD and make up your own mind.
