Some 2005 Titles That Sound Interesting

Here are some movies coming this year that sound like they could be pretty good. As always, YMMV.

April 22, The Interpreter - Sean Penn & Nicole Kidman assassination thriller
April 29, Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy - from the book, sort of
May 6, Kingdom Of Heaven - Orlando Bloom, Liam Neeson - trapped in Jerusalem during the Crusades
    May 13, Unleashed - Jet Li's newest
May 19, Star Wars III: Revenge Of The Sith - finally
May 27, Mindhunters - FBI profilers stalked by one of their own
May 27, The Longest Yard - remake of the Burt Reynolds vehicle
June 3, Cinderella Man - boxing story with Russell Crowe
June 10, Mr. & Mrs. Smith - Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie, married assassins after each other
June 17, Batman Begins - the beginnings of the Black Knight
June 25, Mission Impossible III - Tom Cruise, Carrie Anne Moss
June 29, War Of The Worlds - Tom Cruise, Dakota Fanning, Tim Robbins - supposedly more true to the H. G. Wells story
July 8, The Fantastic Four - more comic book heroes
July 22, The Island - Logan's Run on the water?
Nov. 4, Legend Of Zorro - Antonio Banderas, Catherine Zeta Jones - the sequel to Mask Of Zorro
Nov. 18, Harry Potter & The Goblet Of Fire
Dec. 14, King Kong - directed by Peter Jackson - Jack Black, Andy Serkis
Dec., Underworld: Evolutions - more Kate, more vampires, werewolves and (?) cleaners

Have you seen anything coming that you want to see? Tell us about it....

      In addition...

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory might be interesting (moreso for Johnny Depp than directed by Burton)
      The Ring2
Amityville Horror (not expecting much but TCM was better than expected for me, so why not this one too)
      Batman Begins
      Mr and Mrs. Smith
      The Fantastic Four
      The Exorcism of Emily Rose
      Serenity
Wallace and Gromit (I've become a bit of a fan)
      The New World
      The Brothers Grimm (a must!)
The Legend of Narnia: The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe
      Underworld: Evolution

I saw a trailer for a film called Sin City (based on the comics which I've never read). It looks like a cross between Dick Tracy and Kill Bill.

        I plan on seeing it.

There's a tentative release date of December 9th, 2005, but not much more substantive info on U2 yet. Oh, Kate Beckinsale, Scott Speedman, Shane Brolly, Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen reprise their roles in the first film. I'm guessing Bill Nighy and Michael Sheen are in "flashbacks" or some such.

Weta is doing all the production stuff for Narnia. Being funded by some mouse-themed company. Looks like they're trying to make up for passing on LOTR.

I just hope the art direction and "feel" of Narnia doesn't come off as "LOTR junior" with this approach, 'cuz it easily could.

I'm awaiting Constantine with breathless anticipation.

David, here are some additional movies and trailers, you can add to your resource list. Sometimes they even get specials (boy, that MTV generation).

Check out ALONE IN THE DARK. It's got that Alien/Aliens look and feel to it. Very creepy looking.

                    Terrific site.

Based on the early stuff I've read about Alone in the Dark: Don't expect a good movie here.

There are about a half dozen movies on this page that are absolute MUST SEE for me. Including Constantine, Ep III, Zorro, Narnia, Charlie and the Choc. Factory, and Brothers Grimm.

"Alone in the Dark" looks corny to me. It even has Godsmack titles for the soundtrack. Great scary movies don't score with metal. Looks like another flick off the hollywood "scary-movie" production line.

I have about as much expectations for the Chocolate Factory remake as I did for Fat Albert.

Narnia is looking to be like the next LOTR, which is fine as far as I'm concerned if its up to par. I enjoyed reading the narnia books in grade-school. From the previews it looks great so-far.

War of the Worlds looks real promising. Spielberg/Cruise.

The one that has me really curious is Sin City. Looks like a fairly bold style of filming.

Then Pixar is always good, with its upcoming movie "Cars".

I hope this years films are better than last years.

I don't know that much about Sin City, but it has things going for it...namely Robert Rodriguez directing and a wicked collection of cast.Apparently fans say this really follows the graphic novel verrrrrrr-y closely. Citing the movie has practically been ripped off the pages as far as setting and stylization goes.

                                Benicio Del Toro
                                Elijah Wood
                                Bruce Willis

Sounds like a good line-up to me!

Oh, and while I've never seen any of those shows/movies Jessica Alba is in, She doesn't look too shabby up on the pole either... :T

I especially like the Dick Tracy style of feature exaggeration on the characters along with the use of black, white, and colors. Music sounds good too.

                                Looks very promising.

Alone in the Dark and Sin city were also games I think. I have Alone but have played it very little. Alone in the Dark was not an easy game to play, but it had some creepy moments.

I hadnt heard they were making these into movies. Thats some interesting projects that will make it into the ol DVD collection I am sure.

Alone In The Dark has an interesting look to it, and could be fun. However, listening to the soundtrack CD does make me wonder about its chances. Pure thrash-metal.

I'm wondering if the new "Kong" will be anything like "Godzilla" (hopefully not).

Peter Jackson's name puts it on my must-see list.
                                          So lets see...

                                              Underworld - A Review September 22, 2003

                                              runtime: 121 minutes

Underworld is the tale of an alternate reality where we are in the latter stages of a millennium-long war between vampires and werewolves,

                                              The Legend Of Zorro
                                              by David Meek
I saw a new (to me at least) trailer this weekend for the upcoming The Legend Of Zorro. It's a sequel to The Mask Of Zorro, and both stars - Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones (woohoo!) - have returned to reprise their roles. You know how deceiving trailers can be, but it looks like it could...

                                              Legend of Zorro

Mask of Zorro was a great movie. Legend of Zorro which is the sequel is not.

The characters are the same but this time we get a completely ludicrious plot that drags out for 2 hrs and 17 minutes not to mention little action. There are only 3-4 action sequences otherwise the story plods...

Whoa, this one sailed under my radar. Werewolves, Vampires, Kate Beckinsale in tight black leather :T

Looks like it might be pretty dark and cool. I'm hoping for better than Resident Evil which was a bit of a mess in my opinion.

I just hope they can avoid using the music...
