    RSX1055 & Philips 963SA DVD

Have purchased and am waiting for the new Philips 963 DVD/SACD player, and was wondering what decoders i should use in the setup?

The multi input or the digital co-ax input?

    yes

The longer answer is that you'll need both connections. The digital connection will be used for DTS and DD while the multichannel inputs will be used for DVD-A and SACD.

      hi,

i use both connections with this units.
only when i switch to 196khz upsampling on the 963 menu, i get trash out of my speakers.
i the german ht-forum they told me to set it at max 98khz, but the 1055 recognizes a 196khz signal.
hmmm..but the rest of the signals work fine with the 963 and the 1055.

Does the upsampling make a difference?

I read somewhere that using an external DD/DTS decoder was better than the Rotel internal DAC. Or is it still better than the 963's?

Reading other threads ... it seams (to me anyway) that the DACs in the Rotel RSP1066 / RSX1055 are capable of 24/192 ... but the processing is only capable of 24/96.

963sa owners: please help with sub set up
              by vasia
              Hi,
I've decided to give Philips 963sa a try given its great price at B&H Photo (239-). I've just got it in and I basically cannot seem to be able to set up the sub properly for SACD playback. Every time I set my main speakers to large, it automatically switches sub off in Advanced Bass Managment...

Recently purchased the Philips DVD963SA player to go with my RSX1055 receiver. I run my speakers as small on the receiver and was wondering if I should do the same in the DVD players setup for multi input?

Also I have noticed that when I change from the Co-ax input (receivers decoder),...

I just got my 1066/1075 combo on Tuesday and it's still breakin' in as we speak. Very happy with what I hear so far. My "old" system was pretty good for 2 channel (Adcom 750 pre and 5500 amp), so I'm reserving judgment until the new stuff fully breaks in. But it TOTALLY BLOWS AWAY...

Stick to RSX1065 or go to 1055/1075 separates?
              by BleakShore
I guess I'd like to hear/learn advices/experiences from those who have gone this route.

That is, stick with the RSX1066, or exchange it for the RSX1055/RMB1075 combo? I bought it from Myer-Emco so I can do the exchange with no penalty.

              The reason I'm contemplating this...

I picked up this little beauty a couple of days ago and it really has made a big difference to my Philips 963sa, at the moment I have it hooked into my Rotel 1055 HT reciever which is not ideal for 2ch music I know but it has enabled me to do some direct A/B comparisons as I have the multi inputs connected...
