    contemplating 1056

Here is the story. Moved into new house. Much bigger theater room. 50 x20x8. Looking to replace Marantz sr7000. 95% 5.1 HT theater use. have $1500 max to spend. Is the rotel a significant upgrade in power?

If i wanted to run a pair of speakers off my deck, but can't afford to amp the two open channels, will running the wires through a speaker selector effect perofrmance.

Is it true only the two fronts can be redirected, becasue I would consider using the sr7000 to amp the deck channels if possible.

    Thanks in advance

That's a huge room! 8O The 1056 will likely do a better job than most at filling that space but you will need a bigger amp at some point if you want good, room filling sound. You should be able to use the Marantz to power the second zone and the 1056 does support zone 2 out Or if you use a sperate amp you can also re-direct the 1056 main channles for 2'nd zone or rears in a 7.1 configuration.

The room is the 1st floor of a high ranch. The area the TV is in is about 12 x18 x18. The problem is it is one open space. the other half is the kids playroom. One day I will enclose the area, but not until the kids are bigger.

Outside of the normal surround upgrades you get with a new model, will the power level be noticable

Rotel's quoted power is more honest than the "mainstream" companies. They rate their watts with all channels driven full range. The mainstream companies tend to rate with 2-channels driven over smaller, specific frequency range and when rated in the same way have a real rating usually much lower than their quoted specs.

Check out this link for an idea on manufacturers claimed ratings and the real performance.

The Rotel will be a big step up in sound quality, if nothing else. I have heard a similar Marantz receiver, a similarly price Yamaha receiver, and a Denon 3805 against the 1056, and the difference was not subtle. The Rotel was much more musical, detailed, and lifelike.

Any reason to switch from a Marantz SR7000 to a SR7400?
              by audioqueso
              Hello everyone.

I just bought a Marantz SR7000 from ebay to power my B&W 601s (upgraded from an old Onkyo TX-DS575x). I wanted to get a Rotel RSX-1056, but money changed, so I had to go with something under $700. I listened to a Marantz SR7000 with my speakers and found them to...

              Integra DTR 40.1 - Zone 2
              by chuck21401
I recently purchased an Integra DTR 40.1 receiver to replace my older Onkyo receiver. Before the Integra I had a TX-DS 939 and before that a TX-DS 747. The Integra is a great leap forward and sounds great.

I am using the Integra in a home theater set up and have two outdoor speakers...

              Turn off amps in RSX-1056?
              by kirkj
New to the forum (and having problems posting too?).

I picked up an RSX-1056 and have some questions. I'm going to use the 1056 for home theatre with a 5.1 B&W VM1 system that I ordered. However, I also like to listen to 2-channel music using an Adcom amp and a pair of Magneplanars...

              RSX-1056 or RB-976 for fronts
              by Tom Caines
I'm running a RSX-1056 (75W/channel) for 5.1 and have the option to use a RB-976 6-channel (60W/channel) amplifier in bridge mode for 3-channels at 150W/channel for the fronts and redirect the RSX-1056's front amps to drive speakers in another room with Zone 2 material. Alternately, I can let the RSX_1056...

              RSX-1056 and Zone 2???
              by abock
I spent the afternoon listening to various receivers. At the end I am down to either the 1056 or the arcam 300. Understanding the approx 800 difference I am really leaning toward the rotel. I have search the forum and read the manual online and am still a little confused about Zone 2. I really want...
