Does RLC 1050 offer surge protection?

So I purchased a Monster 5100 line conditioner for my home theater, but I noticed Rotel also carries a conditioner. Has anyone had experience with the RLC 1050 vs the Monster conditioners? I'm not real nuts about the appearance of the Monster piece–too many different lights and distracting giant red numbers.

      Dear ?,

I have a Rotel RLC-1050 and am happy with the unit. It does what it is supposed to do. I have no experience with Monster so I cannot give you a comparison.

The only thing I do not like about the RLC-1050 is that you cannot set the individual outlets to be always on (except outlet 0) with for example a switch.

Because of this lack of functionality I cannot use the RLC-1050 for my TV, VCR and so forth. I now have a separte power conditioner for units that require constant power.

      Regards,
      Olaf

I thought it would be nice if everything matched. But if I can't spec which components are switched then I'll just stick with what I have.

        Thanks,
        Eric

I am a bit confused about the fact you dont have yout tv connected, cant you just leave equiptment on standy by when not in use or does the rlc-1050 turn everything off once you switch the always on switch. thanks

            Dear Malcky,

The RSP-1098 is plugged in to the "always on" outlet and I use trigger 1 on the RSP-1098 to activate the other outlets on the RLC-1050. Hence the VCR and TV would not get power unless the RSP-1098 is switched on.

            Regards,
            Olaf

I don't use the trigger function in my Rotel Line Conditioner, and I power devices on and off through macros in my universal remote control.
There is nothing wrong with doing it your way, I am simply pointing out an alternative.

                The original question remains unanswered.

Does the Rotel RLC-1050 provide surge protection?

I stay in India and we are prone to lot of power surges, under voltage and power cuts. I wanted to basically protect my investment in the HT I have setup.

Any advice whether to go for a UPS (or) a Rotel - RLC 1050. The main purpose is Surge protection and taking care of under voltage. Improvement in the Audio will be an add on

The "Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity" web site has posted a new review of the Rotel RLC-1080 Power Conditioner. Overall, the review is positive, but they focused mainly on the battery backup capabilities of this unit. That feature is the primary difference between this model and...

I'm am looking to buy either an RSX 1055 or RSP 1066 and a RMB 1075 within the next two months and noticed the RLC 900 on Rotel's website while looking around.

Let's skip past the "do line conditioners make a difference" question for now and assume (for argument's sake) that...

                  RLC-1040 vs. APC H15
                  by MusicMonkey
Hopefully a quick question for everybody: I've read here and in other forums that the new RLC-1040 power conditioner/regulator is "based on" the APC H15.

Does anyone know for sure if these two are literally EXACTLY the same on the inside, just that the RLC-1040 has a different...

Hi there everyone! I recently had my stuff moved out of storage from another province to the province I moved to three years ago, it's so nice to have my stereo back. Does anyone know if Rotel has a backlog for the RLC-1040s? I placed an order for one about 3 weeks ago with my local dealer, and it still has not arrived yet.
