    Cedia 2013

So ... Rotel are listed as an exhibitor at CEDIA 2013 in a couple of weeks time ... and thoughts (or hopes) of what new things might be being shown?

    Hi Eloise!

Ya know, I bought my first piece of Rotel gear (RB980BX) back in 1994.
Had never even heard of Rotel at the time, a time when all the 'best' was thought to come from the USA and England.
Rotel was manufactured Japan at the time, & few if any other 'respected' (ie, by the audio press) audio products were coming from the East.
I took chance & never looked back.

I sold that V same amp a few years back & regret it today.
It was the venerable Sherman Tank (I tried to find a British equivalent but unfortunately came up woefully wanting - though they did a bit better at military aviation) of SS amps, & is still in use today providing excellent service.

Like most things in life, Rotel's history fits a the bell curve, starting out as an obscure entry into the audio industry, reaching a peak years later with high value audio components & then AV products, & now seeming hardly more than an 'also-ran' in today's market.
The only news, what little there is of any import, occasionally comes up here. But sadly, the old fan club is seems to have lost its enthusiasm of late.

There just is not much new to talk about these days when it comes to the Rotel brand.

I'll be there and be sure to let everyone know. Someone usually grabs the press releases before I even get there though!

Yeah. It's definitely the doldrums. The dealers where I bought most of my Rotel gear a decade ago are either out of business or don't carry the line anymore. Not a good state of affairs. I just replaced my Rotel RSP-1066 with a Marantz pre/pro. I didn't even consider buying an updated Rotel pre/pro.

Just saw in the CEDIA dailies that Rotel is releasing a "quartet" of audio components. I'll swing by their booth during my tour today and see what's up for you guys.

Kevin, I'll be wearing a tan sports jacket, jeans, black shirt, black pocket square, and some sort of tie today. If you see me, say hi.

Well, we're safe for now. Thank goodness we're in a bowling alley.

Not getting there until tomorrow, but I'll be on the lookout if you give me a fashion update for tomorrow.

Heheee... tomorrow I'll be pretty obvious. I'm going to be wearing a Denver Broncos #87 Jersey and jeans. John Elway is at CEDIA tomorrow, so I'm going to be properly attired and hope I get to meet him. (big Bronco fan)

For everyone else today, here's everything I saw Rotel had displayed. The only person there wasn't interested in talking, but I at least got some pics for ya:

Thank you for the V nice photo's, Chris!

I personally find the RC-1057 of interest.

                  -- Built-in 24/192 DAC

                  -- Bluetooth via USB dongle

-- USB 24/192 port (you can play your Hi-Res files from your computer)

-- A MM phono section (wooo Whooo!)

-- XLR Input & Output (but is it truly balanced topography?)

-- Not DSD capable (who cares, just get a Schiit Loki for $149)

                  All for $1k list.........

                  Not too shabby, says I.
But, I have yet to hear one.

Definitely would be interesting to hear what the DAC sounds like... I wouldn't mind hearing that! Hopefully it's pretty good. However, with saying that... I wonder really how good it will be at it's price point as there's sooo many good DACs on the market... it makes me wonder how they are going to stand out at all.

Very Cool , thanks for the Pic's Chris.
I'm a huge Bronco fan myself and have been since Elway took to the field. This year might be the next Superbowl run, I can see them going all the way and wining it.

Wish Rotel would come out with a more complete preamp for HT. Awesome amps.

I'd so love to meet John Elway, he was the man and why I started liking the Broncos way back in the 80's. I was a huge Steelers and Eagles fan until I saw him play.
