RSX-10 series: Cleaning the silver faceplates

Anyone know of the best way to clean the silver faceplates on the Rotel 10 series units? I have an RSX-1058 that has a somewhat dulled and dirty faceplate ...

    Thanks in advance.

best stuff to use is windex window cleaner. i use it on all my hifi gear. a technician told me this 20 years ago and ive been using it ever since. although ive never had a problem i dont rub too hard on the print.

I use DeOxit sprayed onto a soft, lint-free cloth to clean haze and dull spots on vintage silver and black face equipment. I think it does a remarkable job, and causes no harm. I use another clean cloth, turned frequently, to remove traces of the DeOxit and buff the faceplate to a lustrous finish. I use a side to side motion when cleaning and buffing, versus circular motion, so as not to cause any swirl marks.

Here's pictures of a 1970s Kenwood integrated amp before and after cleaning with DeOxit. In the first picture, the faceplate looks a bit two-toned, with dull areas, and there is dirt and discoloration in the fluted parts of the knobs. In second picture, after cleaning with DeOxit and buffing, the finish looks clean and even.

Here's pictures of Adcom's first amp, the GFA-1 (1979), cleaned with DeOxit, as part of its restoration.

          Nice work, Glen.
Totally off topic, can you give me your thoughts on a Denon DP-47f?
I may be able to grab one.
