    Changing a Rotel RA-972 for a Classé CAP-100 ??

I had no chance in the Classé Forum, so maybe you guys have a answer...?

    Thanks

    -------------------------------------------------------------------

It’s my first post in the Classé forum since I don’t own one, but my questions regards one !!

    so here it is...

    I currently own these equipments:

    - Rotel RA-972 integrated 60w/ch
    - Rotel RCD-991 CD player
    - B&W DM603 S3 speakers
    - Tributaries standard cables

I’m now hit by Upgratitis !!

As of now, I’m considering to change one piece of equipment.

I will keep the speakers since they are only 3 years old and I like their sound and I think they are a good pair.

I’m looking to either change the integrated or the CD.

I was looking to replace it with a used integrated. I’m looking forward to put my hands on a Classé CAP-100 and I was suggested to use the balanced outputs from the Rotel CD player, then I could benefit once again of that pretty nice CD player.

Some other people tend to say I should change de CD also, but that would be a little bit pricy !!

I was wondering if it was a good route to take...

As of my speakers, will they keep the road with a Classé CAP-100 ?? I heard the Classé, but it was on a pair of Serie 700 floorstanders (don’t remember which one) but I remember it was quite pleasing !!

Will I see a big improvement or since the CD is also a weak link, I should wait and do both upgrade at the same time ?

    What do you think ??

I did see your post on the Classe forum and started to reply but I'll do it here.

The CAP-100 will be a pretty big step up from the RA-972. The DM603S3s are pretty good and will like having a better amp running them. Upgrading the integrated now will pay off later with a speaker upgrade as well. You could move into a better speaker (in the area of an 804S) and not fell like the amp is letting you down.

The CD player you have is a really nice one and will work well with a CAP-100 and DM603S3s. There are better out there, but I would hesitate to take the path your considering.
