Just make sure it has voltage regulation built in. Most off the shelf UPS systems only switch to battery when there is no voltage. The biggest issues you are going to have is when the voltage is present, just not 110/120 volts.

That is strange. My building is 55 years old and has modern breakers. Are you sure of the age of the building?

In any case, regardless of the vintage/format, it seems like the power is marginal. I have been happy with the APC S-15s that I have. While the one in NYC never does anything(!), I do know that the one in CT regulates reliably and is also a reliable UPS.

Need Help On Dimming Home Theater Lighting
          by schalliol
          Here goes my first post!

My house was just built and I didn't have the ability to change the lighting system upon build, yet I would like to add a scene controlling dimming system to my home theater/great room that also features a remote. I'm thinking about it now and I really would...

          UPS battery question
          by whoaru99
I recently replace the four batteries (12v, 7.2A/hr) in my Alpha Nexsys 900 UPS. I picked some big-name-brand batteries specifically oriented to UPS duty so I would have the "good stuff".

The four batteries are wired in series for (nominally) 48 volts. The UPS charger applies...

New apartment setup + finished speakers
          by Gir
So my roommates and I just recently moved into our new apartment in State College and got all our speakers finished and setup (except for the center - still bare MDF). The mains are Mark K's RS225/RS28A on my DIY stands. Those speakers just have a PE vinyl on them as (perhaps) a temporary finish. The...

          ROTEL 1066/1075 - APC 450 UPS Compatibility?
          by ti33er
          Hi again,

My work is throwing out some perfectly good APC UPSs, and wonder if any of you delightful fellows know whether or not they would be able to support my ROTEL 1066/1075 units? (and if they are worth using anyway?)

The specs are as follows: (I live in the UK and...
