    adding an rmb-985 mkII

i'm planning on building a new system composed of:

    3 b&w 685 -fronts and center
    1 pair ds3 surrounds
    2 hsu vtf-3 mk3

i already own an rmb-1075 and i have the chance to buy a used rmb-985 mkII for a relatively low price to biamp all my speakers. is it worth adding another amp?

    Do a search on bi-amping.

Make sure you're clear on the difference between active and passive bi-amping.

Passive bi-amping stands a good chance of revealing no discernible improvement... also understand that it's entirely possible that once you've gone to all the trouble of active bi-amping, the results may be underwhelming.

That said, more than a few folks have reported success with a bi-amp effort... and if you just like to tinker, why not?

My preference is to simply provide max current... i.e., buy a bigger, badder power amp.

    Happy hunting.

Without music to decorate it, time is just a bunch of boring
production deadlines or dates by which bills must be paid.

      Biamping the HTM2D?
      by mtlrx
Hi everyone, first post. I am wondering if it's worth biamping the HTM2d. I will be getting 802d and want to biamp them with Bryston 6b(3 channel) 300w/channel amps but wondering if it's worth biamping the HTM2D. If I do biamp the HTM2D I will get another 6b or should I just get a 4b(2 channel) also...

      RB-1080 BiAmping with 800 Series
      by specialized
Last week i got another RB-1080 (stock is almost gone so i wanted to have another one which i'll use maybe for rears, maybe for center, maybe for next room, maybe to try biamping, so i thinked that definitly is not a waste).

I tried to biamp my speakers using Van Den Hull Cables CS-122....

      Biamping option on a 3way
      by augerpro
Say I had built those Dayton 3way speakers and used one of those biamping jacks where you can biamp or run normally. Will running biamped screw up the functioning of the crossover? From what little I've learned so far the components in a 3way (particularily) "react" with each other quite a...

      1095 w/ 1080 biamping 802's?
      by Taco
I'm looking into adding a 1080 (2x200watts) to my 1066 preamp and 1095 (5x200watts). My thought is to biamp with the 1095 LR and the 2 channel 1080 running to each 802 so that each 802 is getting 400 watts. Does this make sense or is there a better suggestion out there.

      Thanks for all...

      Biamping
      by TimRawson
Picked up a Rotel 1056 - first Rotel peice. Had originally ordered, due to arrive and sending back despite tempation to do a comparison, Pioneer Elite 56TXi. Had won a Rotel RB1050 (70x2) 2 channel amp and figured it was my calling (original plan was to use the extra 2 channels from the 7 channel...
