    A few Rotel updates

I just received an update from Rotel on a few products and I thought I'd share them with the group.

    1. The RMB-1077 price is now $2000.00 US. That is down from $2500.00 US and is a better value than before.

    2. The RCC-1055 is going away. Rotel has about a 90 day supply (in the US give or take) so if you're thinking about picking one up, do it soon. When they are gone, it's not being replaced.

    3. RSP-1098's in silver are on backorder and may not be replaced. Rotel has black in stock, so if you're looking for one in silver, check with your dealer now.

I hope that they can lower the price on the RB1092/1091 eventually too. maybe $2000/$1250 (fingers crossed...)

What are they going to replace the RSP-1098 with if they discontinue it?

Rotel hasn't disco'ed the RSP-1098, it's just not available in silver right now. Since it's toward the end of it's life cycle they might not bring any more silver in. They haven't said anything about a replacement. The last I heard CEDIA will be the earliest they show or announce anything.

So in general terms on the 1077, its still around $800 more for 2 more channels than the 1085. I guess I would have thought its price would have come down more.

Different (and cheaper) amp modules in the newer 100w units. We're actually lucky the price of the 1077 came down at all. Guess they got a good deal on some supply from B&O.

That may be so, but you are not going to sell two channels of the same power for $1300 more to any savvy customer, when you can buy two 1085s for less than one 1077. The new price now is in line with the 1085 and 1076.

Same power? We're not driving light bulbs! However, looking at the specs, the only difference I can see is the 1077 has a -3db bandwidth of 10hz-80Khz and a damping factor of 400, whereas the 1885 has 10hz-40Khz and a damping factor of 200. The 1077 is probably going to be happier with low(er) impedance loads. I'm not sure if that justifies the price difference, but the modules are definitely different! The 1076 and 1085 don't seem to be available in Europe either.

The nagging question remains: is there a discernible difference in sound quality between the 1077 and the newer 1085/1076?

                    Too soon to tell, huh?

another benefit of the 1077 over a 1085 + 1072 is that the 1077 requires less space.

can someone post SRP's of the 1085, 1072 and 1076?

Hey gang, I've been reading this forum for months and figured it was time to join. I picked up my RSP-1066 (silver) and RMB-1095 in May...and WOW.....I have never been more impressed....simply fantastic...

My question is about the black 1095's. I was wondering if anyone knew anything...

                              Rotel 1067 being replaced?

I went in to my local AV store and discovered that they were selling the 1067 receiver on clearance for about 30% off. Is Rotel coming out with a new receiver to replace the 1067?

As the subject says ... be very careful when doing firmware upgrades or actually do not do this yourself.

                              Here is my little story:
For some investigation for the Dolby Digital EX problems, I had contact with someone from Parasound. However since I had an older firmware version...
