    Rotel RB-1072 or RB-1070

Did anybody have a chance to hear these 2 amps side by side. Is there a difference in sound?

Most certainly there will be a difference in sound. The digital amps have a little different character then their analog counter parts. You're also comparing watts to watts which really doesn't apply with the digital amps. I would think a side by side of the RB-1072 and the RB-1080 would be a better comparison.

I agree with Kevin. I have heard there multichannel amps digital vs analog and it's not a matter of better but different. I'll go as far to say it's going to really matter how your speakers sound on both amps.

Alittle example. B&W N804's didn't sound that great on the Rotel RMB1075. I thought the amp was outclassed by the speakers. We then hooked it up to the Digital 1077 and as I thought the sound didn't Improve , it was however different. Maybe a bit darker.
We had a pair of Cm7's and they sounded fantastic on the rmb1075 and in my opnion even clearer and more punchy on the digital 1077.

I don't think you can answer your question without testing your speakers on both amps.

How would you describe the character differences? I will be using it with KEF XQ5. I am looking for a clear, analytical, balanced sound. Power is of secondary importance.

It has a slight softening of the treble with a fuller low end (compared to their analog amps). The fuller low end might just be a result of better control at lower impedances.

I've had my setup for just about a year now and I'm amazed I'm just finding this out.

Ever since I bought my Yamaha RX-V2600 and Deftech 7002's I've been disappointed in the 2 channel audio. I have the match center and rears also.

It always sounded hollow and lacking bass....

My review of the RMB 1077 & RB 1092 amps

Hi I'm new to posting on the board, but I've been a visitor for about 2 yrs.

Over the past 4 months I've been checking out the 2 above mentioned amps since I'm really attracted to the smaller size with the really big sound. Here are the reviews I posted on another board I frequent....

OK, well not a full review just yet but I thought I would post my initial impressions:
