Hi. I currently own a 1067. I havent had it hooked up for a year due to travel. I just bought a the rb1080 to run my front speakers. I have Paradigm studio 100's. I dont notice to much difference running the speakers through the amp. they are'nt bi-amped. I am going to do that when I get home. Also when I listen to 2 channel music as soon as the cd swithes songs the reciever swithches back to dolby digital 3 channel. Does anyone have any suggestions on OSD settings for the fronts and rears and evrything else. basically I would like to tweak this system for better sound. I use a B&W 675 Sub and Paradigm cc-570 center channel and studio 20's in the rear. It sounds like crap to me. Any recommendations on a good cd\dvd player. Also on the latest firmware what is the best way to install. i've been out of touch for awhile and now I am back with the bug. I probably should of bought the B&W 803's but wanted to save some dough. Well any suggestions for this novice and thanks to all you rotellies that help. You Guys are awesome.

I would suspect the reason it switched back to dolby digital 3 channel is because thats the default setting you have that input set to. Go into the menue and make sure the defual setting for that input is set to stereo.

I would suggest setting all your speakers to small, and having the cross over setting set to 80. Measure with the distance from each speaker to the listening position and set the distance in the 1067. I would then suggest you buy a digital sound meter to set the sound levels for each channel

Any recommendations on a good cd\dvd player.

If you want my opinion I would get the Toshiba XA1 HD DVD player. Its a great DVD player, and fantastic HD DVD player. It will also do a great job with CDs.

My other suggestion is to buy a Toshiba A2 HD DVD player for movies and get s tand alone CD player if you are really into listening to music.

i have a denon 1730 and i love it, was a huge step up from my $60 toshiba dvd player haha, the picture and audio is awesome on it, setup on it was very simple and straight forward, the other dvd player i was looking getting was an oppo but got a better deal on the denon

If you want to get decent sound for 2 ch music replay then imo a dedicated cd player connected via it's analogue outputs to the 1067 is a must.The Rotel RCD1072 is an obvious choice but also have a listen to the Consonance CD120.
Such a cd player combined with an inexpensive dvd like one of the Oppo's or one of the HD-dvd players will make for a system that is much more rewarding both for music and ht.

I agree with calmac, and would also recomend listening to one of the Cambridge Audio CDp's for something in the < $1000 range.

add an eastern electric minimax vacuum tube player to the options as well.Great player.I actually preferred it over the rcd1072.The minimax also has a headphone jack that is amazing.

Upgrading the firmware is pretty easy. Not sure what you mean as the 'best' way to upgrade it as there's really only one way. Just grab the latest off the firmware thread here and then go to Rotel's website to get the upgrade software and instructions.

My Rotel 1067 is about 18 months old. Do I need to do all the upgraded firmware. Or does the newest patch cover it all. Next question for advice is. What are the default Sub Settings. And should the crossovers be set all the same. Probably a dumb question :roll: I have done some of these suggestions and with dramatical improvement. Tonight I am going to upgrade my speaker wire and Bi-amp the fronts and use some bananna plugs. Looking for a little tighter bass. I am not sure what the setting on the back of the sub (B&W 675) should be and what it should be set to on the 1067. I guess its suggestive and probably depends on how I like to listen to music and Ht. I like crisp highes and tight mids and bass. Im such a freakin rookie . Hey thabks to all for your help. ;x(

14 gauge at a minimum, 12 optimal. Gotta recommend Cat Cables on the banner above. The forum is owned/ran by them and fortunately they do sound good and are a great value. We can't really discuss different cable brands past that do to obvious conflict reasons.

definitely check out oppo digital for a great dvd/cd/dvd-audio/super audio player!!!! i am currently using the oppo dv-981 and it sounds great, and up converts dvd's beautifully!
