    just added 1080... WOW

Just got one and I can't believe the outcome :B .
I do have one isue that I'm trying to resolve is the ground isue I guess. The hum thats one while the amp. is on, as I turn it off is slowly goes away while the red light dims.....
I did search for similur isues, I'll report on that later one, but for now I'm enjoying the upgrade too much...

Try pulling your cable connection from your cable box/tv and it'll probably stop the hum. If not, something else (one of your other components) is causing it and the best way to find out is disconnecting one at a time until you find it.

Well I would hope so, ground loops are typically introduced to the amp through the RCA source cables.

If removing the cable/DSS feed from your TV or cable box didn't fix the hum, you will have to disconnect everything from your processor and add it back one at a time to see where it's coming from.

did you add the 1080 to your 1057 or did you add both at the same time?

Doesn't matter. The cable ground can back feed through the tv, video wires to the dvd, then through the dvd's audio cables to the 1057. Anything connected to anything plugged into the 1057 can be the cause. Even things plugged into the same power circuit.

Will "hum" travel through fiber optic cables since they aren't metal?

Nope! Since as you said it's non-conductuive.

                        by will1066
                        Hi everyone,

I'm in the process of installing the RB-1080 in my system and after getting the line-level and speaker connections done and hitting power, I am getting a loud hum in both of my main speakers. Playing a CD, I got music so my guess is there's nothing wrong with the amp and...

I set up my gear last night a fired it up. I bought the 1067 and the 1080 to bi-amp the fronts. I bought the Nautilus 803's. Inital thoughts, they sound much better than in the store. In the store they were actually too bright and wasn't blown away, i think the room was poor too. I bought them...

I hooked up my Rotel RB 1080 last night to my Monitor 11's and it has a hum coming through the speakers. My RMB 1075 only made a hum when the amp was on and the reciever was off but the RB 1080 makes a hum when the reciever is on and I can here it when the volume is low. How do I get rid of it I read...

                        RSX-1056/RB-1080 Questions
                        by sweiss42
Hi I just joined. I have a RSX-1056 and use it in a 5 channel system. It drives B&W 703s for the front mains. I thought I needed a little more power to drive the front speakers and got a rb-1080. I thought going from 75W->200W would make it sound better and for some of the music I play allot...

                        by Al K
Thanks again to the club members that helped me determine the source of the hum through my speakers! ( As posted previously, hum appeared with the addition of a new RB1080 added to sysytem). The source in my case was the tv cable! I never mentioned how I permanently solved the problem!! So here is the...
