    amp to receiver ?

I'm planning on adding an amp and actually have been looking around. My problem is several amps i see like the odyssey ht3 dont have 12v trigger. If they dont have the trigger how are they used,do you just leave the amp on all the time?Hate to have to always turn on the amp seperately.Any help or insight would be appreciated.thanks
P.S. by the way i'm actually looking to see if any used low profile amps are available or even exist.

A lot do leave it on or toggle it manually. The other choice is is some type of power management system (conditioner or power strip) that does have a 12v trigger. Something like the RLC-900 or RLC-1040 can handle the power toggling of all your equipment.

As for low profile amps, take a listen to the digital offerings from Rotel and others. Low and cool running amps.

Nuforce is one, I'm not familiar with the others. Do a search for ICE power module from B&O (used in the Rotel's) and you should get some more info.

          Amp for passive subs
          by TimRawson
Aquired an SV passive sub.... Often a pro amp is paired up with them.

Are there any older 2 channel amps that are bridgeable to 4ohm?... Most are only rated to 8 ohm in mono/bridge. For instance, would like to pick up an 9180 Hafler. Would it get cooked at 4ohm in bridemode? Any amps...

Classe Amps - Possible Case for Speaker Wires
          by beden1
Possible case that speaker wires and balanced versus RCA connections make a difference that I had not considered.

This hobby is complex in nature, and it's interesting that one gets to continue learning along the way through experimentation.

Case in point: I have owned...

Modula MT & Hypex plate amp
          by jquin
          Hi All
Ages since I was doing speaker DIY but a requirement for a new sound system was created when I purchased an intel NUC for a HTPC.
What with the only speakers being those in the TV I saw the need to improve on this situation.

I had a left over Modula MT minus the xover...

I am attempting to validate the adequacy / synergies of this amp / speaker mix. I have some of this equipment but am considering extensions and refinements i would make when I upgrade from a TV to projection unit.
