    Rotel CD player, Model #RCD-955AX

    Hello All,

How is this CD player? We can't find any reviews on it. I saw it on a Flea Market's list for sale for $30.00.

Good machine back in it's day ,about 1990-92 bit long in the tooth now with regards to reliability and spares will be a problem.

I have that same CD player and it is still going strong and sounds great. It is definitely worth the $30 price tag. The quirky thing about is that it has a remote but there is no way to turn it off and on with the remote.

Here is a review of it back from 1996

I've had my 955 for, what, 10 years?

Sounds great, totally reliable – with the exception of a twice-broken belt which opens / closes the tray (fixed twice by retailer for free).

There are certainly better players 10 years hence.

But none for $30... you can't go wrong here, if it's in working condition.

Sorry read the op incorrectly and thought it was the 855 birng asked about.Spares may still be a problem for a 10yr old unit.

If it makes you feel any better, the same applies to the RCD-1072.

What's the deal with CD player's used as transports?
              by nicholtl
From my understanding, CD players/multichangers can be used 1 of 2 ways.

              1) As a transport.

              2) As a player utilizing it's own internal DAC's.

As such, this basically means that by using digital interconnects (optical or coaxial) between the CD player...

How much does a good CD/DVD player matter
              by Seeme
First, I would like to state that I'm looking at this from one point of view... Digital connection only.

Does it really matter how much you spend on a CD player for it's sound quality? If you invested in a really good A/V or Pre-Amp such as a Meridian, Theta, Bryston, Mac, Linn, Mark...

              A review from Projector Central:

"NeoDigit calls the NeuNeo HVD2085 a "universal player". Taking them at face value, the player does seem to handle just about everything: DVD, SVCD, VCD, CD, HDCD, MP3, WMA, Photo-CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD+R, DVD–R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW and built-in...

              What CD player with AV32R?
              by PhilS
I am awaiting delivery of my AV32R, which should be here anyday. Can't wait. I was initially considering using the Sony ES9000 for CD and DVD play, but it turns out that I might not need a progressive DVD player with the projector I am considering. So, now I am thinking about using a fairly inexpensive...
