I have that same CD player and it is still going strong and sounds great. It is definitely worth the $30 price tag. The quirky thing about is that it has a remote but there is no way to turn it off and on with the remote.

I've had my 955 for, what, 10 years?
Sounds great, totally reliable – with the exception of a twice-broken belt which opens / closes the tray (fixed twice by retailer for free).
There are certainly better players 10 years hence.
But none for $30... you can't go wrong here, if it's in working condition..

From my understanding, CD players/multichangers can be used 1 of 2 ways.
1) As a transport.
2) As a player utilizing it's own internal DAC's.
As such, this basically means that by using digital interconnects (optical or coaxial) between the CD player... -
