    1057 HDMI Issues

Hey guys I am a new Rotel and I just purchased the 1057 and I am having a few issues with it that maybe some one could give some insight on.

First off, I have A 400 Disk Sony DVD Player that runs into the Reciver via HDMI, then from the Reciever I go to my TV again over HDMI. For some reason randomly the picture will cut out (Screen goes black), the sound will continue to play, and the only way I have found to get it back is to change inputs (from Video 1 to Video 2 and then back).

The fact that the audio is still playing and the movie never stops tells me that the DVD player is fine. Has any one else experienced anything like this? The reciever is about 2 days old and I would like to get it exchanged if there is a chance it might be defective.

    Thanks for any input!

Since the HDMI ports on the 1057 are just a switch, it shouldn't be effecting the signal. Try running the DVD straight to the TV and see if you get the same results. If it works fine then the 1057 HDMI board might be bad.

The problem with the HDMI 'standard' is every manufacturer seems to have their own interpretation of the 'standard'. I've had several cases where HDMI had to be abandoned because all products involved just couldn't work together!

        Kevin is right.

Just before the Word cup football, Samsung introduced a HDTV Cable decoder in Holland, so we could all watch the games in HDTV. Unfortunately the box had a lot of bugs related to HDMI and the MPEG-4 standard, and quite a few TV's did not work with the decoder. Luckily the component output did work.

The problems you descibe are unfortunately quite common on some cominations of DVD players and LCD/Plasma screens. It is unilely the 1057's fault.

Adam, sounds like your setup allows for both audio and video to pass through your 1057. Can you please share your setup? I have a 1057 and a PS3 and I can't seem to get the audio to work via HDMI. Please help.

Per my other reply earlier, the 1057 will not do anything with the audio signal on HDMI. I would imagine Adam ran a digital cable as well and was just having issues with the video signal.

Please don't bring up any more old threads, the answer will be the same.
