I have a set of Bowers and Wilkins DM12s from many years ago and my CD player just died. I am looking at the Rotel RCD 1072 along with a new amplifier the RA 1062. Would these two components work with the B&Ws?
Rotel RA 1062 and RCD 1072 with B&W DM12s?

Probably be a good match.
I just think there are better products out there for similar cost. Both the models you refer to have been around for a while now, and (as some on this forum have found) are starting to show their age against newer competition. But if you've already decided on these, yes, I reckon and OK match, although it is obviously safer to check that you like how they sound together so try and take your speakers down to a local dealer or better yet see if they can arrange a home demo for you.
Cheers, and good luck.- Bottom

If Rotel then try RCD06/RA06(or RA03)
The RCD1072 is for me a fantasic player. It has a lot of "soul" if I can call it that. The sound is very detailed, but with the "sharp" edges smoothed ever so slightly giving this warm, relaxing ambiance to the music. NOTE: I like THIS type of sound!!!! What I also liked about the 1072 is its bass. With Rotel introducing the RCD06, which is an upgrade to their RCD02, I do sense that the RCD1072 is up for either a subtle upgrade or will be replace by a "better" offering carrying newer technology.
The RA1062 is old and the RA06 (renamed RA03) whips the RA1062's a#s.
However, the RCD1072/RA1062 has a beautiful visual appeal together.....and that to me is a huge consideration.
I have to agree with BTB though, that at present, there are better offerings at the same price point and even less than the RCD1072.
I wish you well.....
.....I'm having a VERY hard time to make a related decision.......
would I buy the RCD1072....no, I don't think so...not because its not good, simply because it might be changed soon and there are better offerings for less....
would I buy the RA1062....definately not....the RA03 is better......Regards :T,

Boombox,
I agree with your comments 100%, although I'm not sure why you feel that the RA 06 is so much better than the 1062... I would imagine that they are based around the same internal components, both have similar power output (around the 90wpc/8ohms mark despite lower rated output, etc...) ? Unless you mean in terms of value, in which case I'd agree. Perhaps you have experience with both that has led to this opinion?
Just for the record, when I suggested "better" offerings, I didn't necessarily mean other brands... esp. if the original question was based around a Rotel and B&W match (normally considered a good one)... Uppermost on my mind would be something like the new 06 Rotel series components, which as Boombox suggests is, at present, better value for money.
But if a one brand stack to match the B&W's is the goal, offerings from the likes of Marantz, Arcam, NAD etc... could also present suitable solutions, depending on availability (and price) in your region and personal taste, as each set-up will offer it own respective sonic character as well as visual appeal. As I said Margaret, try and listen with your speakers to find the best solution for yourself.- Bottom

Yes.....for one,Originally posted by BTB... I would imagine that they are based around the same internal components, both have similar power output (around the 90wpc/8ohms mark despite lower rated output, etc...)
and secondly, the US market has most probably got a better "turnover" (sales) with the RA1062 as opposed to the RA03....hence (I guess) "Euro" series...., however, the tech in the RA03 IMO is superior and recent than that employed in the 1062...
Its the same with us....we are far more attracted to cars that have a "European/Japanese" look than and an american flavour......so I believ in the US where the 10-series has more appeal than the Euro series.....(assumption here!!!).....Regards :T,

by JamilRotel fans,
I recently purchased RA-1062 to power my 2 channel setup consisting of Era Design 5 speakers. The audio source is RCD-1072. Although the setup is quite pleasing to the ears I get the feeling that having a little more oomph in the watt/channel section will really help the...-

by audiojunkyRotel seems to have quite a few CD player and I'm having a hard time understanding the difference between them.
Is there a difference between the RCC-1055 and the RCD-1072 (except for the fact that RCC is a 5 disk changer)? I mean is there a difference in quality?

by hired goonG'day,
I was in a hi-fi store the other day, and mentioned that I had the Rotel RCD-1072 CD player. The sales dude then mentioned that I "did not have Rotel's top of the range cd player", and proudly pointed to a RCD-02 CD player in the corner.
I scoffed at this,...-

by gianniSorry this is so long, but I want to paint an accurate picture.
A little over a month ago I purchased a RCD-1072 to add to my RSX-1055. Prior to the 1072, I had been using a roughly 15 year old Denon DCD-1520 which at the time was one of their top of the line CD players...this thing weighs...-
