    Frequency response - 1077 vs 1091/2

The frequency response of the above amps are listed as such:

    RB 1091/2 ------- 10-40khz +- 3dB
    RMB 1077 ------- 10-80khz +-3dB

    I wonder why the difference?

And secondly, I know we only hear up to 20khz, but will such a difference have any practical implications?

I know specs are specs and we should listen, but while nobody is listening we might as well talk specs.

That's just the rated response at +/- 3db. That doesn't mean it won't play higher or lower. It just means that the 1077 has a flatter response to a higher frequency.

Whether higher then 20khz makes a difference is an open ended debate that usually gets ugly...

Yes, above 20kHz it really does not matter to us....

      But to dogs it does..!!

Luckily the speakers only go up to 25kHz...!!

Someone should perform a test on this, or company that produces amplifiers. Make exactly the same amplifier. One that goes to 100khz and another one of the exactly same amplifier that is cut off at lets say 30khz. Do a blind test on about 10 musicians and record the results of which amplifier was thought to have sounded better. Under the same test conditions ofcourse. Using both high res sources and normal CD.

Hi I'm new to posting on the board, but I've been a visitor for about 2 yrs.

Over the past 4 months I've been checking out the 2 above mentioned amps since I'm really attracted to the smaller size with the really big sound. Here are the reviews I posted on another board I frequent....

            Questions about DM603 S3
            by WillBrison
            Hello -

Yesterday I brought home a demo pair of B&W DM603 S3 speakers for an in-home audition. I have auditioned over eight brands of speakers in the US $700-$1,000 range in-store, and the 603's were the best sounding by far - a much more spacious, three-dimensional soundstage, and...
