    1075 buzzing sound :(

    Hey guys,

Today I noticed that there is a buzzing sound coming from my RMB 1075. Its not a sound coming from the speakers, its actually audible from the amp itself. I've tried unplugging and reconnecting everything and it still buzzes. Anyone experienced anything like this?

    Thanks,
    Pete

It's been noted before. Some have found it to be the quality of power coming in, but I think one guy never found out what it was.

Do a search for 1095 buzz, I think that's the one that came up the most.

      Thanks Kevin,

After doing some reading, I am seeing a correlation between power and the buzz. I have a Panamax power center which shows the Voltage coming in, and while there was buzzing the voltage lights were only lit up to 110.

Now that more people in my neighborhood have gone to bed and I turned more junk off in my apartment, the voltage is up to 115 and the buzz is gone.

      This hobby sure is complicated.

I have a 1075 and it also started buzzing recently. I wonder if its due to low voltage also?

That's interesting - I've only heard buzzing physically coming from the chassis of older amps like Peavey, QSC, or anything related to PA systems. I've got this old QSC amp that does it too and when I took it apart the buzzing was so much quieter, preventing the resonance on adjacent panels.

I think it has to do with the way the transformer in the amp is installed - maybe it's vibrating some nearby metal (which still sounds like the same 60Hz, 120Hz harmonic stuff).

Sounds like the hum is caused by the transformer in the unit. PSaudio has products that may fix or make it less noticeable by cleaning up/fixing the power going into the unit.

Transistors and power supplies are common noise makers in electronics, especially those that deal with higher voltages. YMMV For example the transformer in my Pio 510HD set buzzes like crazy - Pioneer knows this - but is considered "normal"

              Regards, Tom

Double check that it is the amp itself. I thought my 1095 buzzed until I felt around and identified that it was actually a surge suppressor that was making the noise. The suppressor was dead quiet until the amp was "triggered" on. It didn't do it when any of the other gear was on, so I guess it didn't like the load from the power amp.

I think it has to do with location and quality and age of the power source/breaker. I used to live in a fairly new apartment before I moved into a older house. The amp never had a buzzing issue that I know of in the apartment. Now that it is in the house, I can hear the buzz at about a foot away from the speaker when I turn on the amp.

There are some home electrical devices that can introduce harmonics in the energy line and produces the described effect as well.

Here at home, when my mother turn on the water heater in her bathroom, everything in the house that has a power transformer starts to buzz (including my Rotels 8O) and since the heater is very dificult to replace, the solution was to install an isolated toroidal transformer to feed my electronics. :T

                      Hi all,

My 1095 seems to be buzzing more and more these days. I have verified that it's nothing to do with grounding. The buzzing is coming from the amplifier itself. I disconnected all interconnects except the speakers.

                      Here's what happens:

                      1. The amp...

A few weeks back, I purchased a 1067 receiver from my local dealer. When I hooked it up, I heard a distinct buzzing sound coming from all the tweeters in my system. The buzz was volume dependent, but still quite audible at very low volumes. Since it was coming from all 7 speakers in my setup, it was...

I am in the process of getting a new A/V rack but until I settle in on which one to get, I had to take care of the WAF with my current rack/layout. I have two tower racks currently, each one flanking my RPTV/HDTV. Each tower has a series of components plugged into a Monster Power HTS 5100; each 5100...
